Southport Watchhouse incident

Police have transported a 20-year-old man, who was in custody in Southport Watchhouse, to hospital after he attempted to harm himself on Saturday (April 14) evening.
He was observed attempting to harm himself inside his cell at approximately 6pm and Watchhouse staff responded immediately.
He was conveyed to hospital by Queensland Ambulance Service for precautionary assessment.
The man was in custody for breaching bail conditions after allegedly entering a Major Events Area (MEA) at Currumbin yesterday.
As with all incidents of this nature, the matter has been referred to Ethical Standards Command.
