The Queensland Police Service joined forces last week with police across Australia for a week-long operation to target and disrupt the supply and distribution of ice and other dangerous drugs across the country.
As part of Operation Vitreus, Queensland police located 2.25 kilograms of ice, nearly 10 kilograms of cannabis, two kilograms of steroids and small quantities of MDMA and cocaine.
Ninety-eight thousand dollars was also seized police.
As a result of the operation, 222 people have been charged with 551 offences throughout the state.
Detective Inspector Tony Morgan from State Crime Command’s Drug and Serious Crime Group said police work tirelessly with communities and agencies across the Commonwealth Government to disrupt the supply of illicit drugs.
“National enforcement operations like Vitreus are an effective way to tackle the scourge of ice and other dangerous drugs in the community,” Detective Inspector Morgan said.
