Today is ‘International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia’ and, for the first time, the rainbow flag was raised over the Southport Police Station.
Senior Constable Lorianna Blaylock is the Gold Coast LGBTI Liaison Coordinator and said; ‘It’s great that the QPS is showing its support for diversity and equality within our workplace and within the community. This flag represents the QPS’ public display of support.”
As the LGBTI Liaison Coordinator, Senior Constable Blaylock develops strategies to address the needs of the LGBTIQPA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Pansexual and Asexual) community, attends community events and engages with LGBTIQPA youth and networks.
The QPS is expanding the LGBTI program and recruiting new and enthusiastic liaison officers on the Gold Coast.
