Arson investigation, Rockhampton

Police are seeking public assistance with an investigation into a number of grass fires that have been deliberately lit in the Rockhampton area in the past three weeks.
Around 3.30am this morning police and emergency services attended grass fires that occurred on the corner of Bowlin and Quay streets, Depot Hill. The fires were started in multiple locations and it appeared they had been burning for some time. The fires were extinguished and there was no damage to property.
Detectives are investigating whether the fire is linked to a number of other recent grass fires that have occurred in Gracemere, Port Curtis, Bouldercombe and Mount Morgan.
Officer in charge of Rockhampton Criminal Investigation Branch, Detective Senior Sergeant Luke Peachey said police were appealing for anyone who has any information in regard to any of the fires to contact police.
