Police have charged a Townsville man yesterday following an investigation by members of the Corrective Services Investigation Unit, State Crime Command.
It is alleged the man, a correctional officer at Townsville Correctional Centre, assaulted a male prisoner on March 29, 2018.
The man sustained non-threatening injuries to his face and body as a result of the incident.
Yesterday, a 44-year-old man was charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and abuse of office.
He is due to appear in Townsville Magistrates Court on August 21.
