Pillion passenger sustains critical injuries, Mareeba

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating after a pillion passenger fell from a motorcycle at Mareeba last night and sustained life-threatening injuries.
The 73-year-old Mount Sheridan man was a passenger on a motorcycle travelling along Ray Road when he came off the bike at around 8.50pm (August 18).
He was transported to hospital with critical head injuries.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 54-year-old Mareeba man was charged by police with failing to provide a specimen of breath for analysis and driving under the influence of liquor or a drug. He is due to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court on September 3.
Investigations into the incident are continuing with police appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or has any dash cam vision of the incident, to contact them (details below).
