Cairns Police have charged a 16-year-old Earlville boy with unlawful wounding following investigations into an alleged stabbing in the CBD overnight.
It will be alleged that around 10.25pm in Lake Street a verbal argument occurred between a teenage boy and a 38-year-old Manoora man with the argument escalating into a brief fight before the boy produced a knife threatening the man before leaving.
As the boy was walking away he got into a verbal argument with a 37-year-old Trinity Park man, a friend of the 38-year-old man. It will be alleged that during this altercation the man was stabbed in the back.
He was treated at the scene before being transported to Cairns Base Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police arrested the boy soon after in a nearby street. He has been charged with one count each of unlawful wounding, unlawful possession of a knife and public nuisance.
