Forensic Crash Unit officers investigating a single vehicle crash at Witta on July 13 have charged a man.
At around 8.40pm a car was traveling west on Maleny-Kenilworth Road when it will be alleged the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into trees.
The passenger of the vehicle, a 22-year-old local man, died at the scene.
The driver, a 39-year-old Nambour man has since been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death while adversely affected by a substance.
He is scheduled to appear before the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on September 24.
