Cross border traffic operation, Goondiwindi

Queensland Police, in conjunction with New South Wales Police conducted a cross border traffic operation codenamed Operation Northmore focusing on vehicles travelling between the two states through border towns.
The operation targeted impaired driving (drug and drink driving), as well as life-endangering offences such as speeding and failure to wear seatbelts.
During the five-day operation, which ran from March 8 to 12, static intercept sites were set-up on the Cunningham and Leichhardt highways at Goondiwindi, and another site at Iveragh by officers from Road Policing Commands – Road Policing Task Force.
Approximately 300 vehicles were stopped with 121 roadside drug tests performed with seven drivers testing positive.
Police issued 30 notice to appears to heavy vehicle drivers for a range of offences including failing to keep a work diary and non-compliance with dimensions.
