Attempted abduction, North Rockhampton

A man is assisting police with their enquiries following an attempted abduction that occurred in North Rockhampton earlier this morning.
A 24-year-old woman was standing outside a hotel on Main Street this morning around 12.15 when she was approached by an unknown man who asked for directions.
The man suddenly placed the woman in a headlock and attempted to drag her towards a ute that was parked nearby.
The pair struggled, and the woman was able to alert nearby residents and when the man saw other people approaching, he released the woman and fled the scene in the ute.
Responding police have sighted the vehicle travelling south on the Bruce Highway around 1.30am and have commenced a pursuit.
Officers have deployed a tyre deflation device at around 1.45am and the vehicle continued to travel around the Rockhampton area when he fled the car on Emu Park Road around 2.10am.
