Yesterday, Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP and Commissioner Katarina Carroll welcomed 71 new officers to the Queensland Police Service (QPS) following a graduation ceremony at the Academy in Oxley.
The ceremony marked the end of a six-month period of intensive training to ultimately prepare the now First Year Constables (FYC) for their new roles as general duties police officers throughout the state.
The graduates ranged from 19 to 45 years of age and came from a diverse range of careers and cultural backgrounds.
The new FYCs have spent months building a strong foundation to enable them to deliver an excellent level of service as they begin their careers in the QPS.
Prior to commencing at the Academy, the graduates were the first cohort of recruits to undertake a four-week Recruit Distance Based Pre-Learning Pathway, designed to prepare recruits for the challenges of the Recruit Training Program
