Sásta, a band who has brought Irish music to Australia, is performing at The Colmslie Hotel on the 10th of December at 2:30 p.m. until 5:30 p.m. The band, whose name literally translates to “happy” in English, promises an afternoon of joyful, lilting Irish music that the Australian crowd has come to know and love.
Sásta band is comprised of members that can play different instruments. Their musicianship together has been an integral part of their success in the music scene in Australia. Their performances are marked with contagious energy as they belt out Irish songs, original compositions, and other tunes that compel listeners to dance along.
The band has launched two albums to date. In the past, they have performed with internationally acclaimed artists like Aslan, Sharon, Shannon, Damiem Dempsey, Mundy, and Shane McGowan’s band “The Popes”.
The group’s act has always been highly anticipated in gatherings such in the likes of the National Folk Festival & Woodford Folk festival. They have already headlined the St. Patrick’s Day celebration in Hyde Park, Sydney in 2014 and 2015 and have toured Europe through the L’ Orient festival in France.
If not belting out their original songs, the band performs popular Irish songs from The Dubliners, Christy Moore, The Pogues, and The Saw Doctors among others. While they pride themselves as an Irish band who managed to penetrate Australia’s music scene, they can also perform pop and rock hits of Paul Kelly, The Angels, The Church, Mumford & Sons and the list can go on. Showing off their versatility in music, the band is also known for their Irish rendition of Michael Jackson’s and Guns n’ Roses’ greatest hits.
