Homicide detectives from the Cold Case Investigation Team investigating the murder of Dorothy Britton in 1996 are encouraging potential witnesses to come forward with the information needed to solve the case.
Dorothy Britton, aged 48 at the time of her death and a mother to three boys, was found at 6.30pm at her Airlie Beach address. She had died from a gunshot wound.
“Detectives investigating the case believe those responsible for Dorothy Britton’s murder remain at large and have identified potential witnesses we know that can assist in solving this tragic murder,” Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Knight of the Homicide Investigation Unit said.
“The investigation remains ongoing and will continue until all opportunities to advance this investigation have been exhausted. In recent days inquiries have been conducted in South Australia and North Queensland and investigators encourage anyone with any information to come forward. Now is the time,” he said.
