Update – Search and rescue, Malanda

Police have this morning recommenced the search for a kayaker who became trapped in a river near Malanda yesterday afternoon.
A group of kayakers were paddling on the North Johnson River in the Wooroonooran National Park when one of the group went over a waterfall and became trapped between rocks.
A distress beacon was activated by the group and police are currently working with SES teams and Rescue 510 to reach the area.
Poor light and weather hampered the search for the man yesterday afternoon.
There is no further information available at this time.
