A man has been charged following the alleged assault of a child in Pialba earlier this month.
It will be alleged a man approached a young child at Torquay Road shopping centre shortly after 4pm on Sunday and allegedly assaulted them.
It is further alleged that the man then fled the area and the child was not physically injured as a result of the incident.
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have observed a male person acting suspiciously in the vicinity of the shopping centre on Sunday to contact them.
A 30-year-old Nikenbah man has been charged with one count each of indecent treatment of a child, indecent treatment of a child (procure to commit) and deprivation of liberty.
He appeared in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court this morning and was remanded in custody to reappear next month.
