Be a Mate: Don’t Tailgate

Rear-end crashes are costly, and unfortunately common.
Around 1 in 3 claims made to the Queensland CTP insurance scheme relate to rear-end crashes, and they represent more than 25% of the total paid.
People need to take these crashes seriously: not only do these incidents have financial costs to Queensland, but they can result in injuries such as whiplash and ongoing effects on health and wellbeing.
We’ve teamed up with the Motor Accident Insurance Commission (MAIC) to call on Queensland drivers to ‘Be a Mate’ out on the road and help make it safer for everyone.
By being more mindful about things like following distance and the actions of other motorists around us, we can reduce the number of rear-end crashes.
The first step to being a mate? Don’t tailgate!
You wouldn’t do it in person, so don’t do it on the road.
