An 18-year-old man has been charged following investigation of an incident in Mackay Street yesterday.
Police will allege the two men, who were known to each other, were in a violent altercation resulting in the 22-year-old victim being struck in the head with an improvised baton.
The 22-year-old man received serious head injuries and was transported to the Royal Brisbane Hospital for treatment.
The 18-year-old man was charged with one count of assault, grievous bodily harm, and is due to appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court today.
