Police are investigating after a truck was reported to be driving erratically on the Bruce Highway from Gympie to Caboolture last night.
The truck had been reported stolen the previous night from Gooburrum near Bundaberg and used in a petrol drive-off in Gin-Gin at around 3.40 pm.
At around 4.10pm, police located and attempted to intercept the truck at Sandy Creek Eureka but the truck continued driving.
At around 6.15pm Gympie police observed a truck being driven erratically, Southbound on the Bruce Highway.
Officers attempted to intercept the truck in Gympie but the driver refused to stop and continued along the Bruce Highway, to the Caboolture exit, Old Toorbul Point Road where a tyre deflation device was successfully used.
The truck came to a stop approximately two kilometres later when it collided with a telegraph pole and brought down powerlines.
