Armed person, Heatley

An 18-year-old man has been charged after trespassing and producing a samurai sword in public.
Just after 10pm last night, police were conducting a routine patrol when they noticed a member of the public chasing a man towards Fulham Road at Heatley, allegedly armed with a samurai sword.
Police attempted to apprehend the man when he allegedly threatened officers with the sword and fled into nearby parkland.
A search of the park was conducted where the man was located and taken into custody.
It will be alleged the man was trespassing on a property in Lindeman Avenue and fled when the resident confronted him.
The Heatley man has been charged with one count each of possession of a knife in a public place, going armed to cause fear, unlawful possession of suspected stolen property and trespass.
He will appear in Townsville Magistrates Court today, September 16.
