As part of continuing investigations by members of State Crime Command’s Drug and Serious Crime Group, police have been successful in declaring a Gold Coast massage business as a “prohibited brothel”.
In May 2019, police commenced Operation Romeo Bailie to target several massage parlours on the Gold Coast who were allegedly providing illegal sexual services.
On September 6, police with assistance from the Australian Federal Police and Australian Border Force executed search warrants at several businesses. Criminal proceedings for prostitution offences were subsequently commenced against five employees of three Gold Coast massage businesses.
An application was made to Southport Magistrates Court and as a result a temporary declaration was issued under Part 5 of the Prostitution Act 1999, which was posted on the business premises yesterday declaring the business “Body Back and Feet Massage” at Ashmore as a “Prohibited Brothel”.
The Queensland Police Service remains committed to enforcing the Prostitution
