Police have released vision of a vehicle ploughing into a Slacks Creek service station as a stark reminder of the dangers of drink driving.
Around 1.45am on December 19, 2019, the vehicle travelled through a red traffic light, crashing into another vehicle before careering into the nearby service station on Paradise Road.
CCTV from the service station captures the moment the vehicle becomes airborne and smashes into a petrol bowser.
Luckily, the drivers of both vehicles sustained only minor injuries.
The 32-year-old driver of the primary vehicle recorded a breath alcohol reading of 0.225%, nearly five times the legal limit.
The Kingston man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicated substance and driving whilst unlicensed.
He recently pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court where he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment (suspended for two years) and disqualified for driving for 12 months.

Four people allegedly linked to Finks Outlaw Motorcycle Gang have been arrested after officers from Taskforce Maxima South East Region raided a Pimpama home yesterday, seizing firearms, cash and dangerous drugs.
A search warrant was executed on a Fountain Street address where police with the assistance of dog squad also located ammunition, knives, a taser and firearms including shot guns, rifles and a hand gun. The cash seized is estimated to be worth just over $23,000.
A 38-year-old man from Pimpama and member of the Finks OMCG was charged with 21 offences including seven counts of possess weapons, four counts of possess shortened firearms, three counts of possess category M weapons, possess dangerous drugs, possess restricted drugs and two counts of possess explosives.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today (August 14).

Dangerous driving in school zone, Woodridge
A man has been charged with multiple offences after allegedly crashing a stolen vehicle at high speed in a school zone at Woodridge yesterday afternoon during pickup time.
It will be alleged that a white Subaru sedan stolen from Boronia Heights on August 11 was driven at a speed of approximately 100 kilometres per hour along Smith Road before colliding with three other vehicles outside a primary school around 3pm.
The Subaru clipped a car causing it to cross the road and the collide head on with another vehicle.
The second vehicle sustained major damage and contained three primary aged school children. The third car also sustained major damage and contained two primary aged school children.
The fourth vehicle involved sustained minor damage.
All occupants of the damaged cars were lucky to escape serious injury.

Update: Suspicious fires, Highgate Hill
A man has been charged in relation to a series of suspicious fires at Highgate Hill overnight.
At around 9.30pm on August 12, emergency services were called to attend an address on Franklin Street following reports of a house fire.
The blaze was extinguished, however a short time later police were called to another fire at a home on the same street. The residence was extensively damaged as a result.
Whilst at the scene a third fire was reported at a unit block on Hampstead Road in Highgate Hill. This blaze caused damage to multiple cars parked underneath the building.
Police will allege the same person responsible for the three blazes at Highgate Hill also attended an address on Boundary Road at West End earlier in the evening and set fire to some debris which then spread to a nearby wheelie bin.

Major fraud investigation, Brisbane
A 55-year-old Thornlands man has been charged this morning following the closure of a protracted investigation into a $10million fraud.
The man was charged by detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial and Cyber Crime Group.
It is alleged the man defrauded his employer, a Logan-based civil engineering business, over a ten-year period, between 2007 and 2017.
Police will allege the man used his position of trust within the company for personal financial gain.
Detective Acting Inspector Adam Bennett of the Financial and Cyber Crime Group urged all Queenslanders to remain vigilant to this type of offending.
“Unfortunately through the dishonest actions of an employee, this family business has experienced a significant financial loss.
“This is a timely reminder of the risks of employee fraud and the need for businesses and companies to show ongoing vigilance and regularly review purchasing and financial procedures and processes,” Detective Acting Inspector Bennett said.

Fatal traffic crash, Karalee
Police are investigating the cause of a crash at Karalee earlier today where a man died.
Just after 3.30am this morning, a blue Mazda 3 was travelling along the Warrego Highway when it crashed into a concrete pylon.
A 23-year-old Brassall man, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, died as a result of the crash.
The crash resulted in the highway being closed for several hours as investigations commenced.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact police.

Picture this: A young woman arrives at the train station.
She is running late and in a rush to catch the next train – something most of us will have experienced.
She tries to hurry on to the platform, but finds the pedestrian gate locked.
Instead of waiting at the gate, she walks back around and begins to cross the road at the level crossing.
She waits for the train to go past and immediately steps forward.
She is instantly hit by a train travelling in the opposite direction.
Not unlike many of my colleagues, I will never forget my first rail fatality.
I remember consoling members of the public who had inadvertently witnessed this horrific event which took a young woman’s life.
I remember having to look through the woman’s personal belongings in the hope of identifying her so we could break the terrible news to her loved ones.

Breach of hotel quarantine, Toowoomba
A 25-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly escaped mandatory hotel quarantine as part of COVID-19 border restrictions in Toowoomba.
The Glenvale man allegedly left the hotel premises on the ninth day of his 14-day quarantine, in breach of his obligations under the Public Health Act.
He returned to the hotel yesterday where he was arrested by police and charged with failing to comply with the COVID-19 Chief Health Officer’s Public Health Direction.
The man appeared in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
He received a negative COVID-19 test result overnight and there is no risk to the local community.
The QPS is conducting an independent review of the circumstances surrounding the incident.
Serious traffic crash, Bray Park
Police are investigating a serious single vehicle traffic crash at Bray Park tonight.
Around 7pm, at the intersection of Old North Road and Lavarack Road, an Impreza sedan lost control and collided with a power pole.
A 17-year-old female passenger in the vehicle suffered serious injuries and was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
The 17-year-old female driver suffered minor injuries and was transported to hospital for observation.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
Appeal for assistance – Burglary
Detectives investigating an incident in which a man allegedly behaved inappropriately and forced entry into a dwelling in Kelvin Grove have released images of a man who may be able to assist them with their investigations.
Police allege that at 12:15am this morning August 11, the man was sighted on CCTV in the rear yard of a premises on Rusden Street.
The man allegedly removed property from a clothesline and afterwards gained entry to the dwelling. He has left the scene after being disturbed by the occupant, running towards Kelvin Grove Road.
The man is described as between 22 and 30 years old, Caucasian in appearance with a fair complexion, slim build, long dark hair pulled back into a loose bun and a dark scruffy beard.
He was wearing a red and white flannelette shirt, over a branded t-shirt, black long pants and sneakers.
