Wounding, Kawungan

Police are investigating after a woman was stabbed at a Kawungan home in Hervey Bay this morning.
Around 6am, police were called to a disturbance at Lindeman Court address.
Police located a 49-year-old woman with lacerations to her neck. She was transported to Hervey Bay Hospital for surgery.
The attacker was known to the woman.
A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.

Police involved shooting, Upper Mount Gravatt

A police officer is recovering in hospital after being stabbed by a man at Upper Mount Gravatt yesterday afternoon.
Police attended a residence on Hillgrove Street just before 5pm to serve the man with documents.
Preliminary information indicates the man lunged at an officer with a knife, slashing him across the face. Another police officer has discharged their firearm and shot the man multiple times in the abdomen.
The male senior constable sustained serious non-life-threatening injuries in the attack and is recovering in hospital.
The man, aged 25-years-old, remains in hospital after undergoing surgery overnight.
A crime scene declared is still in place as officers continue their investigations.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident that has not come forward or motorists with relevant dashcam footage, to contact police.
As with all critical incidents, the Ethical Standard Command will maintain oversight of the investigation.

Update: Break and enters, Sunshine Coast

Police have charged a man following the investigation into two break and enters where a van was used to gain entry to separate businesses on the Sunshine Coast today (August 5).
It will be alleged at 3.20am, a white Toyota HiAce was reversed into the glass doors of a photographic and electrical store on Plaza Parade in Maroochydore.
The sole occupant then entered the store and smashed multiple glass cabinets, before stealing cameras and equipment.
It will be further alleged around an hour later the same van was used to smash the glass doors of a Caloundra Road machinery business in Caloundra West.
Around 3.30pm detectives attended an Echidna Court address in Landsborough where a man fled from the house.
He was located a short time later hiding in a creek by a police dog.
A 23-year-old Landsborough man has been charged with two counts each of break and enter and one count each of possession

Double fatal crash, Calliope

Police are appealing for witnesses after two lives were lost in a crash at Calliope this morning.
Just before 7.30am, a passing motorist noticed a Toyota Corolla crashed on the side of Gladstone Monto Road.
The two occupants of the car, a 48-year-old woman and a nine-year-old boy, died as a result of the crash.
Preliminary investigations suggest the car left the road and crashed into a tree sometime overnight.
Investigators are appealing to anyone who travelled through the area overnight and observed the green Toyota Corolla, to come forward.

Police take action after border breaches

A man and woman in their 60s are among several people police will allege entered Queensland after falsely declaring they had not travelled to a COVID-19 hotspot.
Police detained the couple in Nanango yesterday after receiving information that they had allegedly travelled through the Goondiwindi police checkpoint with false declarations on July 27.
The 63-year-old man and 68-year-old woman were issued with notices to appear in the Richlands Magistrates Court on August 19 for failing to comply with the Queensland Border Direction and fraud.
They have been placed into mandatory hotel quarantine outside the South Burnett area.
In a separate matter, a 22-year-old Weipa man was issued with an infringement notice for failing to comply with the Queensland Border Direction after being intercepted in Cairns Airport yesterday.

Further charges – trespassing incidents Pittsworth and Warwick

Police from the State Crime Command’s Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) have charged a further six people involved in trespassing incidents at agricultural locations at Pittsworth and Warwick last year.
As part of Operation Romeo Ruck, detectives from Toowoomba and Forest Hill MOCS Rural attended several addresses across South East Queensland on August 3-4 charging six people with 11 offences, including:

A 30-year-old Everton Park man with two counts of enter with intent to commit indictable offence (Stealing) due to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 31.
A 23-year-old Everton Park woman with one count of enter and commit indictable offence (stealing) due to appear due to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates on August 31.
A 23-year-old Black Mountain man with one count of enter and commit indictable offence (stealing) and two counts of enter with intent to commit indictable offence (stealing) due to appear at Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 24.

Break and enters, Sunshine Coast

Police are investigating two break and enters where a van was used to gain entry to separate business premises on the Sunshine Coast this morning.
Around 3.20am, a white van, believed to be a Toyota HiAce, was reversed into the glass doors of a photographic and electrical store on Plaza Parade at Maroochydore. The sole occupant then entered the store, smashing a number of glass cabinets before stealing cameras and equipment stolen.
Then at 4.10am the same van was again used to smash the glass doors of a machinery business on Caloundra Road at Caloundra West.
Further investigations indicate the hire van was stolen from Brisbane and will have extensive damage as a result.
Investigations are continuing.

Evade police, Smithfield

A man and woman have been charged after allegedly driving a stolen utility dangerously and evading police in Cairns yesterday morning.
Around 3.30am officers observed the Toyota Hilux allegedly travelling at speed south on the Captain Cook Highway, just north of the McGregor Road towards Cairns.
Police monitored the ute as it continued onto Harvey Road, Eugenia Street and Toona Terrace where it stopped on a grassed area.
As police pulled up behind the ute, activated their lights and approached the vehicle it will be alleged the driver accelerated away at speed.
Officers then attempted to locate the ute and observed it travelling through the intersection of Kamerunga Road and Daphne Street a short time later.
A tyre deflation device was deployed, however it will further be alleged the ute continued through a number of streets and crossing onto the wrong side of the road.

Appeal for assistance – Rape charges and video, Brisbane City

Police investigating the alleged rape of a young woman last month in Brisbane are appealing for public assistance after concerning video was discovered on a mobile phone depicting other unknown women.
Detectives from Brisbane City Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Mary Street address yesterday (August 4) and arrested a 30-year-old local man.
During a search of the residence police will allege they located mobile telephones, video recording equipment, prescription drugs and illicit drugs.
The man has been denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today charged with ten offences including stupefying in order to commit indictable offence,
rape, sexual assault, unlawful stalking, observations or recordings in breach of privacy, supplying dangerous drugs, possession of a restricted drug and two counts of possessing dangerous drugs.

OMCG arrests, Yaamba

Over the weekend police from State Crime Command’s Taskforce Maxima Organised Crime Gangs Group, along with local detectives, Tactical Crime Squad and Road Policing Unit undertook tactical activities in relation to an event at Yaamba following intelligence about attendance by people associated with outlaw motorcycle gangs (OMCGs).
Three arrests were made in relation to OMCG members wearing prohibited items in public including:
• A 41-year-old Zillmere man has been issued with a Notice to Appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow for wear prohibited item
• A 48-year-old Alton Downs man issued a Notice to Appear in the Rockhampton Magistrates Court on October 6 for wear prohibited item.
• A 38-year- old Gympie man was issued with a Notice to Appear in Gympie Magistrates Court on October 15 for wear a prohibited item.
Two men were arrested in relation to outstanding warrants, including a 37-year-old Rochedale man wanted by New South Wales Police on a revocation
