Pedestrian struck by vehicle, Wynnum

A man in his 30’s is in a critical condition after being hit by a car in Wynnum this evening.
Around 6.15pm the man was struck on Tingal Road.
The driver who was uninjured in the incident is assisting police.
The pedestrian has been taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with a critical head injury.
Police are appealing to the public to help identify the man who is bald, tanned and wearing shorts with a brown jumper.
Anyone with information is encouraged to contact police.

Victorian woman fails to comply with COVID-19 border direction

The Queensland Police Service consistently reviews Queensland Border Declarations to ensure accurate and reliable information has been provided.
Officers from Taskforce Sierra Linnet reviewed a Queensland Border Declaration of a 51-year-old woman who declared that she was travelling from Victoria for essential work purposes.
Police attended a Gympie address this morning at 11am and spoke with the woman and further investigations revealed that her purpose of travel was untrue.
The woman was issued a Notice to Appear at Gympie Magistrates Court on November 30, for Fail to Comply with COVID-19 Border Direction – CHO Untrue Info s. 362D).
The woman was transported into hotel quarantine where she remains.
Investigations into the matter are continuing.

Police officers suspended

This morning police executed search warrants across the Gold Coast and Brisbane following an investigation into the possession and supply of dangerous drugs.
As a result, nine people were detained including two current serving members and a former member of the Queensland Police Service.
Operation Sierra Edgehill commenced in March this year by officers from the Ethical Standards Command with support from the Organised Crime Gangs Group and the Gold Coast Police District in relation to the alleged trafficking of dangerous drugs.
A 28-year-old male senior constable from South Eastern Region and 29-year-old male senior constable from Central Region have been suspended from duty.
As this matter is under investigation by Ethical Standards Command it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage.

Serious traffic crash, North Toowoomba

Police are investigating a serious traffic crash that occurred on Jellicoe Street, North Toowoomba this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate around 3.30am a Nissan skyline carrying six people has collided with a tree.
The six occupants of the vehicle all sustained various injuries, with the driver and front seat passenger requiring extraction from the vehicle.
Four of the occupants were transported to Toowoomba Hospital, two in a serious condition, while two others remain stable.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.

Revocation of stand down police officer, South Eastern Region

A male constable from the South Eastern Region who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service will now return to operational duties.
The officer was stood down on August 28, 2019 in relation to a domestic violence matter and all relevant disciplinary action has now been finalised.

Arson charge, Pialba

Detectives have charged a man following the alleged arson of a residential unit in Pialba last night.
At around 9.10pm July 31, emergency services were called to Hunter Street following reports a unit was on fire.
The unit, which was unoccupied at the time, was completely destroyed by the blaze.
A 38-year-old Torquay man was later charged with one count each of arson, serious assault and deprivation of liberty.
He will appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court today.
No one was injured during the fire.

Wounding, Buddina

Police have charged a man following an alleged altercation which led to another man being stabbed at Buddina this morning (July, 31).
It will be alleged a 34-year-old man from Little Mountain attended an address on Illuka Street around 8.30am to confront a male occupant of the home who was known to him.
A physical altercation broke out between the pair, during which the 34-year-old sustained a stab wound to his torso.
The injured man walked a short distance to Tumut Street where a friend notified police.
He was taken to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital in a serious condition before being airlifted to the Royal Brisbane Hospital.
Police arrested a 30-year-old Buddina man shortly afterwards who has since been charged with unlawful wounding.
He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court tomorrow (August, 1).

81 police recruits graduate as First Year Constables in Oxley

Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP and Commissioner Katarina Carroll today welcomed 80 new officers to the Queensland Police Service (QPS).
The recruits, who celebrated at a socially distanced ceremony at the QPS Academy in Oxley, will now start their careers as First Year Constables (FYCs).

Commissioner Carroll said the FYCs came from diverse backgrounds, bringing a range of skills to ensure they provide Queenslanders with exceptional service across a variety of circumstances.
“We have a diverse group of graduates representative of our community who bring skills and experience from a wide range of previous careers.,” Commissioner Carroll said.

“The training program these recruits have completed prepares them for a range of policing scenarios, and they will continue to learn on the job through the First Year Constable program.”

Man charged over domestic violence and weapons act offences, Mount Isa

Mount Isa detectives investigating an alleged serious domestic violence incident on July 29 in which a woman and a boy were physically assaulted arrested a man at a Mount Isa service station yesterday with a search of his vehicle locating seven firearms.
The 35-year-old Mount Isa man appeared in the local magistrates’ court today charged with 16 offences including assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence), common assault (domestic violence offence), dangerous conduct with a weapon, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, failure to securely store ammunition and seven counts of failing to securely store weapons.
Following the alleged violent assault at a remote rural property on the night of July 29 the woman and her children fled with the man following them in another vehicle and driving dangerously.
The woman sought assistance from a farm house she drove across and police were called.

Woman fined for not declaring hot spot, Gold Coast

Police have given a 25-year-old woman a $4003 fine this morning after she allegedly provided false information by failing to declare she had been to a hot spot in New South Wales.
The woman was travelling with a man by car with Queensland registration plates when around 4am they attended the Miles Street checkpoint with a Queensland Declaration Border pass stating they had not visited a known hot spot.
Police working at the checkpoint believed the man and the woman were acting suspiciously and questioned them further about their movements and it is alleged differing versions were given.
It is alleged the woman eventually admitted to recently being in Campbelltown and the man from Fairfield.
Police also established that the 53-year-old man was wanted for other criminal matters in New South Wales and was taken in to custody.
The woman was given a $4003 fine and turned away from the border.
