Attempted murder, Brisbane City

Ferny Grove detectives have charged a man with attempted murder following the alleged assault of a woman in Brisbane last night.
It will be alleged the 39-year-old man attempted to push the 18-year-old woman, known to him, from an Albert Street unit complex balcony around 10pm.
Police attended after being contacted by a number of concerned residents and arrested a 39-year-old Bongaree man in the vicinity.
He has been charged with attempted murder (domestic violence offence), assault occasioning bodily harm (domestic violence offence) and possess utensil.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
The woman was taken to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.

Grievous bodily harm investigation, Buddina

Sunshine Coast detectives have charged a man following investigations into an alleged shooting incident in Buddina last week.
Around 8.20pm on Friday, July 24 it will be alleged three men and a woman attended an address on Lowana Drive and confronted two men.
It will be alleged the three men and a woman arrived in a red sedan, after a verbal altercation took place one of the men produced a firearm and discharged it toward one of the occupants who received a minor injury.
A second man from the vehicle produced a further firearm believed to be a shot gun and fired the weapon towards the address and occupants where a 48-year-old Moffat Beach man received numerous pellet wounds.
The vehicle then left the address.

Three women charged under the Public Health Act

Detectives from Task Force Sierra Linnet have charged three women for allegedly providing false information on their Queensland border declarations.
Police will allege that all three women travelled to Victoria and deliberately provided misleading documents at the Queensland border.
A 19-year-old Heritage Park woman, a 21-year-old Acacia Ridge woman and a 21-year-old Algester woman have all been charged with one count each of providing false or misleading documents – Section 364 of the Public Health Act (maximum penalty – 100 penalty units or $13,345) and fraud (dishonestly gain benefit / advantage) – Section 408C(1)(d) of the criminal code (maximum penalty five years’ imprisonment).
Police can also confirm that all three women are now cooperating with QPS and Queensland Health officials.
A criminal investigation is also being undertaken by Task Force Sierra Linnet investigators which is unrelated and not connected to the alleged travel to Victoria.

Border restrictions expanded for NSW hotspots in Greater Sydney

Queensland border restrictions will be expanded following the declaration of Greater Sydney becoming a COVID-19 hotspot from this weekend.
From 1am, Saturday, August 1, 34 local government areas of Greater Sydney will be declared COVID-19 hotspots.
A full list of current COVID-19 hotspots can be found on the Queensland Health website.
New South Wales local government areas of Liverpool City, Fairfield City and Campbelltown City as well as the whole state of Victoria remain active COVID-19 hotspots.
Queensland’s border restrictions mean people who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot within the last 14 days will be turned away at the state’s border.
Queensland residents who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot can return home but will be required to quarantine in government provided accommodation at their own expense.
Since July 3, anyone entering Queensland is required to complete a border declaration pass which is valid for seven days or until the person’s circumstances

Attempted armed robbery, Murrumba Downs

Police investigating the attempted armed robbery of a business in Murrumba Downs late last night, have released vision.
Just before 11.30pm, a man approached the locked glass doors to the tavern, which is located on the corner of Dohles Rocks and Ogg Roads.
He then fired a firearm into the glass doors causing extensive damage.
The man, who is described as Caucasian and was barefoot at the time, was last seen running through the car park at the rear of the business.
Investigations into the incident are ongoing with police seeking assistance from members of the public to help identify him.
Anyone with further CCTV or dashcam vision of the area at the time is asked to contact police.

Three charged after cash, drugs and ammunition seized, Kingston

Logan police have charged three people with multiple offences after allegedly seizing ammunition, drugs, drug utensils and more than $40,000 cash from a Kingston residence.
Around 4pm on Monday (July 27) police executed a warrant at a David Street residence, where they allegedly located a quantity of cocaine, methylamphetamine, MDMA, LSD and cannabis. Police also allegedly seized multiple rounds of ammunition as well as drug utensils including scales and glass pipes. Approximately $42,000 in cash was also seized.
A 44-year-old Kingston man has been charged with six counts of possessing dangerous drugs, and one count each of possess relevant substances, possess utensils or pipes, possess property suspected of being used in a drug offence, possess property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence and authority required to possess explosives (ammunition). He is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on 14 October.

Drug Seizure, Gold Coast

Officers from the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad executed a search warrant yesterday at Parkwood, locating and seizing a significant quantity of dangerous drugs including, pills and powder suspected of being MDMA, cannabis and cash.
Police arrested and charged a 36-year-old man and a 30-year-old woman with a total of 16 offences including, trafficking in dangerous drugs, possession of dangerous drugs and other drug related offences.
They are due to appear in Southport Magistrate Court on August 26.
“The Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad is determined to make the Gold Coast Community a safer place by targeting those involved in the trafficking of dangerous drugs”, Acting Detective Senior Sergeant Michael Bolin said.

Police issue ‘money mule’ warning following money laundering arrest

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial and Cyber Crime Group are warning Queensland residents to be vigilant online and alert to the risks of ‘money muling’, a money laundering offence that attracts serious criminal charges.
The warning follows the arrest of a 25-year-old Eight Mile Plains man on July 22 charged with recklessly engaging in money laundering.
Police will allege the man, a student, was involved with a network of offenders obtaining millions of dollars through technology scams, receiving dishonestly obtained funds deposited into accounts he had opened, and receiving a commission for sending this money offshore.
He was refused bail and is scheduled to re-appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on August 24.
Detective Acting Superintendent Ben Fadian of the Financial and Cyber Crime Group said the arrest demonstrates police take this offending seriously and urged the community to be vigilant.

Fatal – Woongoolba

A 59-year-old man has died after the van his was driving left the road, jack knifed and rolled at Woongoolba yesterday afternoon.
Around 5.30pm the van which was towing a trailer with a boat was travelling along Marks Road when it left the road on a bend, rolling and coming to rest on its side trapping the driver.
The driver, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A member of the public driving by alerted emergency services to the crash.
Investigations are ongoing.

Serious assault and burglaries, Beenleigh

A 17-year-old boy has been charged following a series of alleged burglaries and the serious assault of a man at Beenleigh overnight.
Just before 7pm, the boy approached a Church Street residence and allegedly forced entry. Once inside, it’s alleged he held a knife to another 17-year-old boy’s throat while demanding property.
He left the residence after allegedly stealing several items from the house.
Shortly after 7pm, the teenager approached a resident in the yard of a Saratoga Street property and allegedly demanded the keys to a 23-year-old man’s car. The man refused and retreated inside his house.
After leaving the area, the teenager approached another house on Narraport Crescent where he allegedly confronted a 51-year-old male resident, demanded the keys to his car and forced entry to his house when the man refused.
