Fatal traffic crash, Redland Bay

A 69-year-old Wynnum West woman has died after a two-vehicle traffic crash at Redland Bay this afternoon.
Preliminary investigations indicate around 3.45pm a silver Mazda has turned right from Serpentine Creek Road when it collided with a white truck travelling on Cleveland Redland Bay Road.
The driver of the Mazda was declared deceased at the scene.
The driver of the truck was uninjured.
The forensic crash unit is investigating.

Armed robbery, Brassall

Ipswich detectives have released vision of an armed robbery at a convenience store in Brassall from earlier this year as they continue to investigate the matter.
Around 10pm on Tuesday, January 14 a man entered the Pine Mountain Road shop before confronting two employees with a knife and demanding cash from the till.
The man fled on foot westbound along Pine Mountain Road and entered a VF Holden Commodore on Fahy Street.
He is described as around 170cm in height, between 20 and 30 years old, Caucasian, of a heavy build and was wearing a distinctive long-sleeved black hoodie, long grey pants and dark shoes.
The man was also carrying a green shopping bag during the incident.
Anyone with information about the matter is urged to contact police.

UUMV and drug charges, Woodridge

Logan police have charged a 42-year-old Ormeau woman with multiple offences after intercepting an alleged stolen vehicle on Saturday night (July 25).
Around 7.45pm police saw the vehicle, a silver Kia Cerato sedan, allegedly travelling at speed westbound along Queens Road, Slacks Creek.
Police later observed the vehicle enter an apartment complex on Gwinear Street, Woodridge, and a short time later arrested the woman without incident.
During a search of the vehicle it is alleged police located a quantity of GHB stored in a sunglass case under the front passenger seat, as well as in a bag on the front seat. Police also allegedly seized a small knife.
She has been charged with one count each of unlawful use of motor vehicle, possess dangerous drugs, possess utensils or pipes and possession of a knife in a public place.
She is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court today (28 July).

Sexual assault charge, Cairns

Police have charged a teenage boy following the alleged sexual assault of a 26-year-old woman in Cairns on Saturday, July 25.
It will be alleged at around 1.45am the woman was walking along McLeod Street when she approached by an unknown teen.
The boy has grabbed the woman, assaulting her, with the woman struggling and screaming.
Motorists stopped to assist the woman and call police.
After reviewing CCTV of the alleged offence detectives conducted targeted patrols and identified the boy, arresting him on July 26.
A 14-year-old Cairns boy has been charged with assault with intent to rape, attempted rape, and sexual assault and will appear before the Cairns Children’s Court.

Serious assault, Bundaberg

Police have charged a 24-year-old man following the alleged serious assault of a 20-year-old man at a Bundaberg hotel on Friday night.
It will be alleged two groups of men were involved in a physical altercation at the Princess Street premises just before midnight when a man was punched in the head from behind. As a result, the man fell backwards and struck his head on a pot plant and concrete floor.
The 20-year-old was taken to Bundaberg Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening head and facial injuries before being flown to Brisbane for surgery.
The 24-year-old man, a United Kingdom national, was charged with one count of grievous bodily harm and is expected to appear in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court on July 27.

Fatal crash, Fraser Island

A person has died and another has been seriously injured after a four-wheel-drive rollover on Fraser Island this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate the vehicle was travelling along 75 Mile Beach at low tide when it lost control and rolled around 1.5 kilometres north of Eli Creek around 7am.
The driver of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A rear passenger in the vehicle also suffered significant injuries and has been airlifted from the island for further medical treatment.
Two additional passengers were treated on scene. The four occupants of the vehicle are all international tourists.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Fatal traffic crash, Advancetown

Four people have died following a two-vehicle traffic crash at Advancetown in the Gold Coast hinterland this afternoon.
Initial information indicates a vehicle was travelling on Nerang Murwillumbah Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle and collided with an oncoming utility just before 1pm.
Emergency crews attended the scene where all four occupants from the first vehicle were declared deceased.
The male driver of the utility was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with minor injuries.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash.

Fatal traffic crash, South Brisbane

A cyclist has died following a collision with a ute in Brisbane’s south earlier this week.
A group of cyclists were waiting at a set of traffic lights at the intersection of Feez and Kadumba streets, Yeronga, when investigations suggest one rider fell into the path of the ute.
The 42-year-old man was transported to hospital in a critical condition where he died this afternoon.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing investigations.

Arrests in operation targeting OMCG members in violent kidnapping

Police have charged several Lone Wolf Outlaw Motorcycle Gang (OMCG) members and associates as part of a major investigation into a violent robbery and kidnapping of a man and woman at Ipswich in October 2019.
This afternoon, detectives from the State Crime Command’s Organised Crime Gangs Group (OCGG) arrested a 41-year-old Helensvale man at Coomera. He has been charged with 16 charges relating to the incident, including armed robbery, assault, extortion and kidnapping. The man was remanded in custody due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on 25 July.
On Wednesday, OCGG detectives, assisted by NSW Police Force Criminal Groups Squad, extradited a 40-year-old man from Sydney, who is also a member of the Lone Wolf OMCG, to also face 16 charges relating to this incident including armed robbery, assault, extortion and kidnapping. He appeared in the Brisbane Magistrates Court yesterday.

Border restrictions expanded for NSW hotspots

Cross-border commuters are being requested to update their border declaration passes following the announcement of a new COVID-19 hotspot in New South Wales from Monday.
From 1am on July 27, anyone who has been in the local government area of Fairfield in the past 14 days will not be able to enter Queensland.
New South Wales local government areas of Liverpool or Campbelltown as well as the whole state of Victoria remain active COVID-19 hotspots.
With the new hotspot being added, cross-border residents should update their border pass to help reduce delays at police border checkpoints where vehicles displaying older passes, particularly those with NSW registration plates, will likely be stopped.
An email notification was issued today to local border pass-holders with information about updating their declaration pass.
Queensland’s border restrictions mean people who have been in a COVID-19 hotspot within the last 14 days will be turned away at the state’s border.
