Firearms and drugs located, Surfers Paradise

Gold Coast Detectives have charged a 34-year-old man over the alleged discovery of two shorten firearms, drugs and cash in a unit at Surfers Paradise this morning.
It is alleged around 9.50am police executed a search warrant on a Gold Coast Highway apartment building where a firearm was found in a safe and another in a cupboard.
Detectives also allegedly located within the apartment drugs including amphetamines, GHB and cannabis along with suspected stolen property and approximately $12,000 cash.
A 34-year-old Southport man has been charged with five counts of possession of a dangerous drug, two counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and one count each of possess tainted property, possession of property suspected of being the proceeds of an offence under Drugs Misuse Act, possession of a utensil and possession of a restricted drug.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court tomorrow (July 25).
Investigations are ongoing.

Evade police, Bundaberg

A man was arrested after fleeing police in Bundaberg overnight.
Around 11.10pm, Police Dog Scud and his handler were carrying out training when they observed a man running along FE Walker Street.
The officer called for the man to stop however he continued running.
PD Scud and the officer followed the man, who, on multiple occasions, refused requests to stop.
The man fled into Baldwin Swamp Environment Park, scaling a fence and running through dense bushland.
PD Scud and the officer continued following the man on foot for 15 minutes until they apprehended him in a lake.
A 36-year-old Bundaberg man has been charged in relation to outstanding matters.

Serious traffic crash, Tannum Sands

Police are appealing for information following a serious single vehicle traffic crash in Tannum Sands overnight.
Initial investigations indicate a blue 2005 model Holden Commodore lost control on Millenium Esplanade and collided with a pole around 12.30am.
Two local men, both 20 years of age were taken to Gladstone Hospital with life threatening injuries and were later flown to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for further treatment.
The 23-year-old female driver was uninjured.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the vehicle prior to the crash to contact them.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.

Police appeal: Shots fired, Slacks Creek

Police are appealing for information in relation to an incident which led to shots being fired at a business in Slacks Creek.
Around 4am on 28 June, a white Hyundai four-wheel-drive was captured on CCTV arriving at the gates of a business on Dan Street via Allgas Street.
A man, described as approximately 180cm tall with a slim build, exited the front passenger seat and fired five shots at the business, including two causing damage to the CCTV cameras.
The vehicle was later seen travelling along Kingston Road onto Smith Street.
Police are appealing for any information, CCTV or dashcam footage from any person or business in the vicinity of the area at the time of the offence. Streets of interest include Dan Street, Moss Street, Kingston Road and Allgas Street.

Dangerous conduct with a weapon, Sunshine Beach

A man has been arrested at Sunshine Beach this morning after allegedly confronting police with a replica weapon.
Officers attended an address on Park Crescent to conduct a welfare check at around 12.45am.
It will be alleged that as police entered the unit, a man presented what appeared to be a semi-automatic rifle and pointed it at the two officers.
Police retreated out of the residence and commenced negotiations with the man before calling for further assistance.
It is further alleged that a short time later the man opened the front door and pushed the barrel of the weapon through the opening.
A male senior constable immediately pushed the man back through the door, forcing him to drop the firearm.
Officers then successfully deployed a taser, and as they went to restrain the man he allegedly slashed the male senior constable on the hand with a knife.

Firearm and drugs located at border checkpoint – Gold Coast

A man and a woman have been charged after a firearm, ammunition and drugs were located in a vehicle at the border checkpoint at Tugun.
It is alleged police intercepted a car around 8.45pm on July 22 and discovered drugs inside the vehicle and a modified pump action shot gun and ammunition in a bag in the boot.
A 24-year-old Waterford man has been charged with one count each of unlawful possession of weapons Category D/H/R weapon, offence in relation to unauthorised and prohibited explosives, bringing stolen goods into Queensland, forgery and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court on August 19.
A 23-year-old Lismore woman from has been charged with two counts of possessing a dangerous drug (namely amphetamine and cannabis).
She is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on August 21.
Investigations are ongoing.

Armed robbery and break and enter, Maryborough and Rainbow Beach

Police have charged two people in relation to the alleged armed robbery of a service station in Maryborough and a break in at Rainbow Beach.
Around 12am this morning (July 23), three people rammed the glass doors of a bottle shop in a Rainbow Beach Road shopping centre using a shopping trolley. They then placed multiple bottles of alcohol in the trolley and fled.
Around 1.45am, three people entered a service station at the intersection of the Bruce Highway and Quarry Road. They demanded cash and cigarettes, threatening the attendant with a machete.
They took the money and goods and fled.
The 31-year-old male attendant was not physically harmed during the incident.
Around 6am, police executed a search warrant at a Hibiscus Street, Urangan address and allegedly located alcohol, cigarettes and cash. Two men were later arrested at a Beach Road address.

Firearm seizure, Gold Coast

Yesterday, officers from the State Crime Command’s South East Region Major and Organised Crime Squad executed a search warrant at a Mermaid Waters address locating dangerous drugs, a loaded firearm, ammunition and a large sum of cash.
Police arrested a 33-year-old man and a 24-year-old man from Mermaid Waters for drug and weapon offences including unlawfully possessing weapons, possessing dangerous drugs, possession of tainted property and possession of explosives (ammunition).
The offenders will appear in Southport Magistrates Court today.
“The possession of dangerous drugs and firearms is a dangerous combination that presents significant risk to police, the community and the persons involved. We will continue to work with the community to reduce such risks and disrupt such behaviour,” Acting Detective Inspector Ian Galpin said.

Update: Suspicious fire, Southport

Police have charged two people over a fire at a Southport barber shop that caused significant damage to multiple businesses on June 28.
It is alleged shortly before 1.30am, police and emergency services were called to the Meron Street precinct after reports the building was on fire.
The fire caused extensive damage to the business before spreading to the roof cavity of the building.
At least three separate businesses were impacted by fire, smoke and water damage.
A 43-year-old Helensvale man has been charged with one count of arson and one count of attempted fraud. He will appear in the Southport Magistrates Court today (22 July).
A 15-year-old Helensvale girl has also been charged with one count of arson.

Taskforce Maxima arrests – weapons and drugs, Sunnybank Hills

As a result of ongoing investigations into criminal offences by gang members, officers from Taskforce Maxima, Organised Crime Gangs Group executed a search warrant on a Sunnybank Hills address yesterday.
The search of the Park Avenue residence resulted in the location and seizure of a taser, flick knife, steroids, cannabis and a large amount of paraphernalia associated to the Mongrel Mob who are declared as an identified organisation under the Liquor Regulation 2002. Two gel blaster hand guns were also located.
A 25-year-old Sunnybank Hills man was arrested and charged with possessing a weapon and possessing dangerous drugs and is expected to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on November 3.
