Armed robbery, Robina

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a store in Robina this morning.
Around 9.20am the male offender entered the store on Robina Town Centre Drive and approached a 35-year-old male employee with an unknown weapon wrapped in a piece of clothing.
The offender walked the employee to the back of the store and pushed him to the ground.
He then returned to the front counter and demanded goods from a second employee, a 34-year-old man.
The offender fled the store a short time later with an unknown quantity of jewellery. He was seen getting into an older model white hatchback that was being driven by another man.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or anyone who may have dashcam footage of the area around the time of the incident, is urged to contact police.
No injuries were sustained in the incident.
Investigations are ongoing.

Victorian travellers fined at Queensland border

Six Victorian travellers have been fined for trying to enter the state with false border declarations on the Gold Coast over the weekend.
Police intercepted a minivan on Saturday night where all six occupants were refused entry at the M1 border control check point.
On Sunday, officers intercepted the same van on Stuart Street in Coolangatta around 2pm.
After speaking with the 19-year-old male driver, it will be alleged the same group were attempting to cross with border with declarations falsely claiming they had not been in Victoria in the previous 14 days.
All six people, including two 19-year-old women and four men aged 18, 19, 23 and 28 years old, were fined $4,003 for failing to comply with the Covid-19 Border Direction. They were again refused entry.
Since 12pm on Friday 3 July 2020, anyone entering Queensland is required to complete a border declaration pass.

Fatal traffic crash, Lockhart River

Police are investigating a fatal single vehicle crash in Lockhart River overnight.
Preliminary investigations indicate, around 8.40pm a car travelling on Lockhart River Mission Road lost control and rolled over.
A 16-year-old male passenger was transported to the Lockhart River Health Centre where he passed away a few hours later.
A 17-year-old male passenger will be flown to Cairns Base Hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.
The 18-year-old male driver and two 16-year-old male passengers were not physically injured.
Investigations are continuing.

Fatal traffic crash, Mareeba

A man has died in a fatal motorcycle crash at Almaden yesterday afternoon.
Initial investigations indicate around 1pm the motorcyclist was travelling south on Almaden Gingerella Road with two other riders and lost control on an unsealed section of the road.
The 62-year-old man from Manunda was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The other motorcyclists were not injured.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations are continuing.

House fire, Windsor

Detectives are investigating a fire at a house in Windsor in the early hours of this morning.
Around 1.50am, emergency services were called to a fire at a house on Storkey Street.
One of the three occupants was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with burns to his hands.
The fire caused extensive damage to the house and a crime scene was declared.
Investigations are continuing.

House fire, Bald Hills

Police are investigating a house fire that occurred in Bald Hills last night.
Around 10.10pm, emergency services were called to a Dombey Street address following reports a house was engulfed in flames.
The three occupants of the house were transported to Prince Charles Hospital for assessment.
A crime scene was declared.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.

Serious traffic incident, Alexandra Hills

Police are investigating after a pedestrian was struck by a car in Alexandra Hills overnight.
Preliminary investigations indicate, around 11.35pm a car travelling on Finucane Road collided with a female pedestrian.
The woman was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital with critical injuries.
The driver was not physically harmed.
Forensic Crash Unit investigators are appealing for anyone in the vicinity of Finucane or McDonald Roads, who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage, to contact police.

Armed robbery, Stafford

Police are investigation an armed robbery in the car park of a fast food outlet at Stafford last night.
Around 10pm, a 60-year-old man was sitting in his Holden Commodore near Stafford Road when a man approached the car, opened the passenger door and threatened him with a knife.
A second man opened the driver’s door and dragged the driver out of the car.
The driver sustained grazing and abrasions.
The two men fled in the car.
Investigations are continuing.

Armed robbery, Maryborough

Police have released vision of a robbery of a Maryborough grocery store overnight.
At 6:15pm a man entered the Boys Avenue shop and threatened the male staff member with a knife.
The man attacked the attendant who sustained a minor injury to his arm.
He took the till and fled the store.
The man is described as slim build, with brown eyes wearing black clothing.
Anyone who recognises the man or has further information is urged to contact police.

Fatal traffic crash, Nanango

A 51-year-old Nanango woman has died after a traffic crash on the D’Aguilar Highway at Barker Creek Flat this morning.
Preliminary investigations indicate that at 8am a vehicle travelling west of Nanango has attempted to overtake other vehicles and has collided head on with a sedan travelling in the opposite direction.
Sadly, the driver was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 79-year-old driver of the other vehicle was transported to Nanango Hospital for treatment.
Forensic Crash Unit is continuing to investigate the matter.
