Dangerous driving charges, Gold Coast

A woman has been charged with dangerous driving offences after an alleged incident in which several police vehicles were damaged and two officers injured on the Gold Coast overnight.
Around 11.44pm, a police patrol attempted to intercept a white Toyota Hilux utility on Binstead Way at Pacific Pines when the female driver allegedly became aggressive towards officers before accelerating away at speed.
As a result, the ute’s tray struck one of the officers causing minor injuries.
Officers located the same vehicle a short time later in a nearby street and as they were attempting to intercept it, the driver crashed into an unmarked police vehicle on the M1 on-ramp at Pacific Pines.
The driver reversed back before travelling south on the M1where a pursuit was authorised until Polair 1 was able to track it.

Suspicious fire investigation, Withcott

A man has been charged with arson after a house was destroyed in Withcott overnight.
Officers were called to a disturbance at an address on Clive Crescent at 9.10pm when they arrived to find the structure fully engulfed in flames.
The female occupant was able to escape the home before calling for help.
Emergency services were able to get the fire under control and stop it spreading.
A vehicle parked near the house was also destroyed in the blaze.
A man located nearby a short time later was taken to the Toowoomba Hospital for treatment suspected burns to his hands and smoke inhalation but has since been discharged.
The 49-year-old Newtown man was charged with one count of arson and is expected to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court today.
