Serious assault, Doomadgee

Police are seeking public assistance following the serious assault of a woman in Doomadgee in March.
At 6.45am on March 22, a woman was jogging on Goodeedawa Road when she was approached by a man.
The man ran alongside her for a while, talking to her before the man threw her to the ground and punched her in the head several times.
He then attempted to drag her into bushes before she broke free and ran to the police station for assistance.
The man is described as Aboriginal in appearance, has a slim build, around 165cm tall., short dark hair, aged in his 20s wearing bright pink shorts and a red cloth/bandana wrapped around his right hand.

Update armed robbery and deprivation of liberty, Mango Hill

Police investigating an alleged armed robbery and deprivation of liberty complaint in Mango Hill on the afternoon of May 2 have finalised their investigation.
No further police action is required.

Break and enter investigation, Surfers Paradise

Police have released vision of a man they wish to speak to in relation to their investigation into a break and enter that occurred at a Surfers Paradise supermarket in the early hours of Monday, March 4.
Around 12.20am, a man entered the business on Surfers Paradise Boulevard and stole a quantity of cash.
The man then fled the scene in a dark-coloured hatchback, which was last seen travelling down Ada Bell Way at Southport.
The man is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 180cm tall and was wearing jeans, white running shoes, a black cap and a distinctive ‘Berik’ brand motorcycle jacket at the time of the incident.
Police urge anyone who may recognise the man or vehicle depicted in the below footage to come forward:

Assault occasioning bodily harm, Coolangatta

Police have released vision of a man who may be able to assist with their investigations into an alleged assault at Coolangatta on December 9.
Around midnight, a 19-year-old Currumbin Waters man was standing with friends outside a Marine Parade establishment, when two men – who were not known to them – approached them.
It will be alleged one of the men struck the 19-year-old to the face with a closed fist, causing the teen to stumble backwards.
The man then removed his shirt and attempted to continue the physical altercation, but the group intervened, and the man ran off along McLean Street.
The 19-year-old suffered facial injuries and nerve damage to his teeth.

Armed robbery and deprivation of liberty, Mango Hill

Police are investigating after two armed men confronted a woman and forced her into a vehicle before robbing her in Mango Hill yesterday afternoon (May 2).
The 65-year-old local woman was walking along Halpine Drive sometime between 12MD and 1pm when a white Ford sedan, possibly an older style Falcon, pulled up alongside her.
A male passenger exited the vehicle and began to speak with the woman. As she turned to walk away towards Mango Hill railway station, the driver of the sedan hopped out of the car and stood in front of her holding a firearm, while the passenger produced a knife.
The pair then forced the woman into the back seat of the vehicle and demanded money before stealing a sum of cash from her.

Police officer suspended, Brisbane Region

A 48-year-old male sergeant from Brisbane Region who was stood down on April 11, 2019 has now been suspended from official duty with the Queensland Police Service.
The officer has been charged with the assault of another officer whilst on duty.

Police charge woman with significant fraud, Hughenden

A 56-year-old Prairie woman has today been charged with 67 fraud related charges stemming from a claim to the Queensland Government’s Drought Relief Assistance Scheme.
After a lengthy investigation by investigators from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Rural (Charters Towers), the woman was charged today at Hughenden with one count of fraud, two counts of attempted fraud, 32 counts of forging documents and 32 counts of uttering forged documents.
It will be alleged that false claims were submitted to the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries relating to the “Transport of fodder and Emergency Water Infrastructure Rebate” over several years from 2013 to 2017. As a result, payments totalling $131,538.46 were approved and a further $129,419.45 were claimed but not paid.
The woman will appear before the Hughenden Magistrates Court on August 27, 2019.

Police issue urgent warning following QPS phone number used in scam

Detectives from the State Crime Command’s Financial and Cyber Crime Group have issued a warning to Queensland residents about a scam using a Queensland Police Service phone number to legitimise a government or Australian Taxation Office (ATO) impersonation scam.
In this instance the criminals are using a practice known as caller ID spoofing where they inappropriately manipulate the telephone network to indicate the incoming call is from a different number (in this case a QPS number).
The scam starts when the criminal calls the victim impersonating a government department. They advise the victim has an outstanding fine or fee with them (for example, the ATO). While this type of scam has been doing the rounds for some time, police are concerned this version of the scam has an additional layer which may result in more members of the community falling victim.

Armed robbery and stalking charges, Woree

Cairns detectives have charged a 47-year-old Bungalow man with several offences including armed robbery and stalking following an alleged assault at a Woree home on April 28.
It will be alleged three men attended an Anderson Road home around 8.30pm and spoke to the male occupant, who was known to them.
The men entered the house where police will allege the 45-year-old male occupant was assaulted- punched, hit with a hammer and threatened with a knife and boiling water – before the trio stole the man’s phone, car keys and bank cards and then fled the scene.
Detectives yesterday arrested a 47-year-old man and charged him with one count each of armed robbery in company, assault occasioning bodily harm whilst armed and in company, unlawful stalking and enter dwelling and commit an indictable offence.
The man was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court today.

Sexual assault charges, Edmonton

Cairns detectives arrested and charged a 15-year-old boy after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted at an Edmonton residence on Tuesday evening, April 30.
Police will allege a male  broke into an Edmonton home around 9.50pm and assaulted a woman aged in her 20s.
The woman was allegedly punched in the face and hit about the head several times before being sexually assaulted.
The youth then fled the scene and the woman contacted police.
A 15-year-old boy was arrested yesterday morning and charged with two counts of sexual assault and one count each of assault with intent to rape, attempted rape and enter dwelling with intent in the night time.
The woman was transported to hospital for treatment to non-life-threatening injuries.
