Armed robbery, Southport

Police have charged a 22-year-old man in relation to the alleged armed robbery of a pizza delivery rider at Southport overnight.
It is alleged around 7pm an 18-year-old man was riding a bicycle delivering pizza to a Woomera Street house when he was approached by a man armed with a metal bar who demanded money.
The delivery cyclist was allegedly struck to the neck before he rode off and was allegedly chased by the armed man who continued to demand money. The delivery driver threw what money he had at the man.
Police investigations led them to locate the alleged man involved.
The 18-year-old delivery cyclist received minor injuries.
A 22-year-old Southport man has been charged with armed robbery.
He is due to face Southport Magistrates Court today.

Drug and dangerous driving charges, Browns Plains

Logan police have charged a 26-year-old Regency Downs man with multiple drug and driving offences after he allegedly crashed a vehicle in Browns Plains last night (June 28).
Just before 9.30pm Polair observed a white Hyundai Tucson leaving a residence on Hunter Street, Woodridge, allegedly driving dangerously and travelling at high speed through numerous red traffic lights.
Polair continued to track the vehicle southbound on the Pacific Motorway (M1), before it exited the M1 onto River Hills Road.
A short time later the driver was allegedly seen exiting the vehicle and changing the registration plates, before re-entering and driving northbound on the M1.
Polair continued tracking the vehicle as it exited the M1 onto the Logan Motorway. A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed on the Logan Motorway, Tanah Merah.

Man sought over indecent treatment – Logan Central

Police are seeking to speak to this man who they believe will be able to assist them with their investigation into an indecent treatment incident involving a teenager at Logan Central last week.
Between 10am and 10.30am on June 27, a 14-year-old girl was inside a department store at a shopping centre at Wembley Road when a man has walked towards her.  She attempted to walk around the man and he deliberately walked into her inappropriately touching her.
The girl walked away from the man who continued shopping in the store.
The man is described as 30-40 years, scruffy looking with short dark hair, medium build wearing a blue jumper or jacket, blue jeans and a full beard.

Police charge eight people on more than 100 offences following raids, Logan

Logan District police have busted a significant drug trafficking ring in south east Queensland after charging eight people on 102 offences.
The charges come after police executed multiple search warrants on June 17 and June 22 at four residences in Beaudesert, Tilley, Flagstone and Gleneagle. It is alleged police uncovered drugs, drug utensils, stolen goods and weapons including knuckle dusters, throwing daggers and a tomahawk knife.
Police also allegedly seized items including multiple mobile phones, laptops and SIM cards.
Logan CIB Detective Inspector Tod Reid said the charges reflect police’s ongoing commitment to disrupting criminal activity in the area.
“The charges are the result of an extensive, ongoing investigation into the alleged distribution and trafficking of methamphetamine, which is an incredibly dangerous drug.

Update: Shooting incident, Archerfield

Police have charged a man and woman following a shooting incident in Archerfield earlier this month.
Investigations indicate that on June 18, at 1pm a man and woman attended a Beatty Road car yard.
Police will allege a short altercation occurred during which a 61-year-old man was assaulted and a series of shots were fired causing damage to nearby vehicles.
Investigations led police to execute a number of search warrants in northern New South Wales and successfully applied for the extradition of a 31-year-old Tanah Merah man and a 25-year-old Coomera woman.
The two were charged with going armed so as to cause fear and acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
Both will appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today (June 29).

Update – Fatal traffic crash, Cardwell

Detectives have charged a 22-year-old man with manslaughter following investigations into a fatal traffic incident at Cardwell last week.
It will be alleged that around 8.45pm on Sunday June 21, the man was involved in a physical altercation with a 46-year-old man on Victoria Street causing him to fall into the path of a truck.
The 46-year-old Innisfail man was pronounced deceased at the scene.
A 22-year-old Innisfail man has been charged with one count of manslaughter and is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Suspicious fire, Southport

Detectives investigating a suspicious fire at a Southport barber shop this morning are appealing for assistance to find those responsible.
Shortly before 1.30am, police and emergency services were called the Merton Street businesses after reports the building was on fire.
The fire caused extensive damage to the business before spreading to the roof cavity and several adjoining premises.
At least three separate businesses have been impacted by fire, smoke and water damage.
Anyone with dash cam footage or information about the incident is urged to contact police.
Investigations continue.

Update – Marine search and rescue, Bustard Head

An extensive air and water search for a 54-year-old man who fell from a sailing boat in waters off Bustard Head continues today.
The police coordinated search involving water police, rescue helicopters, VMR Bundaberg and Roundhill vessels, with weather conditions hindering search efforts.
Police are appealing to any vessels in the search area, approximately 20 nautical miles east of Bustard Head, to contact police if they have any information that may assist with the search.
Police would like to encourage everyone to wear life jackets and carry safety equipment when they are on the water and to check the weather before you go out.
If you are in or around the ocean, rivers, creeks and dams, do all that you can to ensure your own safety and the safety of others.

Fatal traffic crash, Chambers Flat

A 24-year-old man has died and a 21-year-old woman is in a critical condition following a traffic crash at Chambers Flat early this morning.
Just before 1.30am, preliminary investigations suggest a Toyota Hilux travelling on Chambers Flat Road lost control and rolled near Kerry Road.
The 24-year-old man, who was driving the vehicle, died at the scene while a 21-year-old woman was transported to hospital in a critical condition.
Paramedics treated another two occupants of the vehicle, two women aged 25 and 19, for minor injuries.
Officers from the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing investigations.

Marine search and rescue, Bustard Head

A search and rescue operation is currently underway for a man who fell overboard from a sailing vessel in waters off Bustard Head, south of Gladstone.
At about 10.20am, a distress call was made notifying authorities that a crew member had fallen from the boat approximately 20 kilometres east of Bustard Head.
Resources involved in the search include CQ Rescue Helicopter, Gladstone Water Police, VMR and a number of other vessels.
There is no further information available at this time.
