The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred on the Flinders Highway near Calcium yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations indicate at around 2:30pm a utility was travelling south along the Flinders Highway when it left the road and collided with a tree, approximately 8.5 kilometres south of the Woodstock turn-off.
The 17-year-old male driver, and sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Attempted armed robbery, Bellmere
Detectives investigating an attempted armed robbery incident that occurred at Bellmere on May 8 are appealing for public assistance.
Around 2.05pm, a 22-year-old man riding his Honda motorcycle (pictured) has pulled over to the side of Piggott Road.
A purple/dark blue sedan pulled up in front of the motorcycle, and a man wearing a black motorcycle helmet exited the vehicle and attempted to steal the motorcycle.
The 22-year-old pulled the man from the motorcycle, and a short struggle has ensued.
A second man exited the sedan armed with an axe. After failing to start the motorcycle, the men have pushed it to the roadway and fled the scene in the sedan.
They were last seen heading on to Bellmere Road.
The 22-year-old man was not injured as a result of the incident. The motorcycle sustained some damage.

The beautiful outback town of Blackall at the legendary ‘black stump’ is abuzz with rugby league this weekend for the annual Arthur Beetson Foundation Outback Cup organised by the QRL Outback.
The QPS Major and Organised Crime Squad (Rural) continues its partnership with the QRL Outback using the event to engage with outback communities, in particular young footy players and their families, to work with the League to promote healthy life choices and careers in the Queensland Police Service and the League.
The carnival has attracted 120 young players from Mornington Island in the North West to Cunnamulla in the South West. The NRL and QRL are both represented at the event and have travelled with the police contingent to Tambo, Barcaldine and Blackall schools today to engage the kids and hold coaching clinics.

Armed robbery, Acacia Ridge
Detectives are investigating an armed robbery at a bakery in Acacia Ridge this morning.
Around 6am, two men each armed with a knife approached a woman inside the Elizabeth Street business demanding property.
One of the men stole a handbag from a bench in the rear of the store before both men fled the scene in a grey four-wheel drive, which had been parked nearby.
No one was physically injured during the robbery.
One man is described as having a tanned complexion, wearing a white cap, black hooded jumper, black pants, gloves and running shoes.
The second man is described also as having a tanned complexion, wearing a red cap underneath a black hooded jumper, black shorts, blue running shoes and white gloves.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with dashcam vision from the area between 5.45am and 6.10am to contact police.

Attempted armed robbery, Drayton
Police have charged a 22-year-old man following investigations into an attempted armed robbery at Drayton this evening.
It will be alleged that around 5pm, a man entered a supermarket on Brisbane Street and approached the service desk.
It will be further alleged that the man produced a knife, threatened a female store employee, and made demands for cash.
A number of customers held the man until police arrived and took him into custody without incident.
No one was hurt during the incident.
A 22-year-old Toowoomba man has been charged with attempted armed robbery and is due to appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow, May 19.

Update: Operation Mike Tesani NSW man extradited to Cairns and charged
Detectives from Cairns have today extradited a man from New South Wales as part of the on-going operation Mike Tesani, investigations into the 2014 serious assault and attempted robbery of a man at Westcourt.
A 42-year-old NSW man has been charged with five offences including attempted robbery using actual violence, unlawful wounding, burglary and commit an indictable offence causing bodily harm, assault occasioning bodily harm while armed with a dangerous weapon and kidnapping for ransom.
Cairns detectives travelled to Orange, NSW on 16 May after the man had been arrested by NSW police by virtue of a Queensland arrest warrant on 15 May 2018.
The man has been denied police bail and remanded in custody. He is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court Saturday, May 18.
Police continue to appeal for information as they believe there are other parties to this offence still outstanding.

Update: Unlawful wounding, Beenleigh
Police have released a photograph of a man they wish to speak to in relation to the unlawful wounding of a 33-year-old man at Beenleigh this morning.
Around 2.30am, police were called to residence at Manila Street, after reports of a disturbance.
A 33-year-old man was located in a back carpark of the unit complex with a number of stab wounds to his body.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not considered to be life threatening.
Investigations indicate that the man may have fled in a black Honda Jazz hatchback (similar to the one pictured) bearing Queensland registration plates “227VDD”
Police believe the man pictured can assist with their investigation. Anyone who has information in regards to his whereabouts is being urged not to approach him, but to contact police.

500 kilograms of cannabis seized in hydroponic growhouse, Wongawallan
Investigators from State Crime Command’s Drug and Serious Crime Group have charged a 55-year-old man and seized approximately 500 kilograms of hydroponically grown cannabis from an address in Wongawallan today.
This morning detectives executed a search warrant on the Wongawallan address. During the search of the seven-bedroom address, investigators located a purpose built facility designed for the hydroponic growth and cultivation of cannabis. Cannabis with an estimated weight of over 500 kilograms and a value in excess of $500,000 was seized.
A 55-year-old man located at the address has been arrested and charged with producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing things in connection with the production of dangerous drugs.
He is expected to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on June 4.

Weapon located in wheelie bin, Woodridge
Police are appealing for any information about a firearm that was located in a wheelie bin at Woodridge on April 19, 2018.
Around 8.30am the woman went to put some rubbish in her wheelie bin at her North Road residence when she noticed some track pants in her bin that were not hers.
She went to grab the track pants out when she noticed there was something heavy wrapped inside.
Upon unwrapping the track pants she located the sawn off firearm pictured.
Police have been running extensive investigations to determine where the weapon came from and if it is connected to any offence without any success.
Anyone with information regarding the firearm or track pants is urged to contact police.

Arrests over dangerous drugs – Ormeau
Police from the Gold Coast Rapid Action Patrol have arrested four people following the discovery of a quantity of various drugs at a residence at Ormeau overnight.
It will be alleged around 7.30pm last night police attended the Banks Drive address and located 300 MDMA tablets with a street value of $9000 along with 6 grams of methamphetamine, 2 grams of cocaine, 30ml of GHB and cannabis along with drug utensils including scales.
A 27-year-old woman from Ormeau has been charged with two counts each of possession of a dangerous drug over schedule (namely MDMA and methamphetamine), possession of a dangerous drug (cocaine and cannabis) and possess things.
A 26-year-old man from Ormeau has been charged with two count of possession of a drug (namely MDMA and cocaine) and one count each of possess utensil and fail to dispose of needle.
A 35-year-old man from Bonogin has been charged with five counts of possession
