Unlawful wounding – Beenleigh

Police are investigating after a man sustained stab wounds at a residence at Beenleigh this morning.
Around 2.30am police were called to a Manila Street address after reports of a disturbance.
A 33-year-old man was located in a back carpark of the unit complex with stab wounds to his body.
He was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment to his injuries which are not considered to be life threatening.
Police are speaking to possible witnesses.
Investigations are ongoing.

Armed robbery charges, Manly

Police have charged four people after a staff member was threatened with a knife at a Manly business yesterday afternoon.
It will be alleged at 1.30pm a man and three teenage boys entered a convenience store on Trevally Crescent in Manly West. One of them allegedly threatened the female staff member with a knife demanding money then removed money from the till while the others stole food items.
The group left the store and got into a red Mitsubishi sedan. A member of the public recorded the vehicle driving away and was able to supply police with the registration and description.
Around 3pm the vehicle was sighted in the Centenary area and Polair was tasked to track the vehicle as it headed south on the Centenary Highway. The vehicle headed to Biota Street at Inala where the three passengers left the vehicle and were arrested by police a short time later.

Dangerous driving charge, Ipswich

Three people have been charged after Polair allegedly tracked a stolen car being driven dangerously from Brisbane to Ipswich yesterday.
Patrolling officers started following the stolen vehicle on Boundary Road at Coopers Plains before it allegedly evaded police when they attempted to intercept it on Oxley Road around 12.20pm.
Polair tracked the vehicle as it allegedly drove at high speeds, on the wrong side of the road and through a red light before stopping at a residence on Stirling Circuit in Redbank Plains.
It will be alleged two men exited the vehicle at the residence before a woman drove it to nearby Aldinga Street where she was arrested by police.
A search of the house allegedly uncovered a quantity of ice, drug paraphernalia and cash.
The vehicle was allegedly stolen from a Daisy Hill residence on May 3.

‘International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia’, Southport

Today is ‘International Day Against Homophobia and Transphobia’ and, for the first time, the rainbow flag was raised over the Southport Police Station.
Senior Constable Lorianna Blaylock is the Gold Coast LGBTI Liaison Coordinator and said; ‘It’s great that the QPS is showing its support for diversity and equality within our workplace and within the community. This flag represents the QPS’ public display of support.”
As the LGBTI Liaison Coordinator, Senior Constable Blaylock develops strategies to address the needs of the LGBTIQPA (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Intersex, Queer, Pansexual and Asexual) community, attends community events and engages with LGBTIQPA youth and networks.
The QPS is expanding the LGBTI program and recruiting new and enthusiastic liaison officers on the Gold Coast.

Update 3: Homicide investigation, Wilsonton

Detectives have charged nine people with murder following the death of a 37-year-old woman in Wilsonton on May 6.
The 37-year-old woman was found severely injured at a McGregor Street residence following an alleged serious assault.
She was transported to Toowoomba Base Hospital where she later died as a result of her injuries.
The following people have been charged with murder in addition to their initial charges of two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm and one count each of enter dwelling with intent in company:

A 32-year-old man from Wilsonton Heights
A 28-year-old woman from Newtown
A 29-year-old woman from South Toowoomba
A 25-year-old man from Wilsonton Heights
A 34-year-old woman from Harlaxton
A 29-year-old woman from Roma
A 29-year-old woman from Kearneys Springs
A 23-year-old man from Toowoomba
A 25-year-old woman from Stuart

All of the nine people charged are scheduled to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court this afternoon (May 17).

Robbery appeal, Strathpine

Detectives are seeking public assistance following a robbery incident at a Strathpine liquor store earlier this month.
Around 6.20pm on Monday, May 7, a man entered the Gympie Road business and walked to shelves located at the back where he stuffed several bottles of spirits into a large bag.
The man was confronted by an employee and another customer as he attempted to leave the store with the stolen alcohol.
A customer attempted to intervene and prevent the man from leaving and the pair become involved in a violent altercation. A member of the public was hit but uninjured.
The man then fled on foot with the stolen alcohol towards Station Street.
He is described as Caucasian in appearance and was last seen wearing a dark coloured cap, grey jumper, tan coloured shorts and was holding an umbrella.
As part of investigations to identify the man any members of the public who may have witnessed the

Update: Attempted armed robbery, Bundaberg South

A man has been charged after a taxi driver was allegedly threatened at knifepoint in Bundaberg South overnight.
It will be alleged that at around 7.15pm a man entered a taxi at a shopping centre on Maryborough Street and requested to be transported to Goodwin Street before directing the driver to the intersection of Buss and Hunter streets.
The man then lent over the driver seat, allegedly produced a knife and demanded money.
The 43-year-old male taxi driver grabbed the knife and struggled with the man before disarming him.
The man then allegedly fled the scene on foot.
The taxi driver sustained a minor cut to the finger as a result of the incident.
Police this afternoon arrested a 23-year-old Agnes Water man and charged him with attempted robbery, using or threatening violence whilst armed.
He has also been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and fail to stop motor vehicle following an alleged incident

Road closures for the 2018 Blues on Broadbeach music festival, Broadbeach

Gold Coast police would like to remind motorists of upcoming road closures due to the 2018 Blues on Broadbeach music festival.
The event will be held over four days, from Thursday May 17 to Sunday May 20, with more than 150,000 spectators expected to attend this year’s event.
Police have been working with event organisers and stakeholders to ensure the music festival is conducted safely and with minimum disruption to traffic.
Motorists are advised that travelling anywhere near the Broadbeach CBD during this event may result in delays due to the diversions that will be in place.
Major Events Group Senior Sergeant Andrew Frick said police would be present during the four-day event.
“Officers will be out and about to ensure everyone is having a safe and enjoyable time and that there are only minimal disruptions to businesses and local residents,” Senior Sergeant Frick said.

Attempted armed robbery, Bundaberg South

Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist with inquiries after a taxi driver was threatened at knifepoint in Bundaberg South overnight.
At around 7.15pm a man entered a taxi at a shopping centre on Maryborough Street and requested to be transported to Goodwin Street.
Upon arriving at the destination the man directed the driver to circle around and stop on Buss Street near the intersection with Hunter Street.
The man then lent over the driver seat, produced a knife and demanded money.
The 43-year-old male taxi driver grabbed the knife and struggled with the man before disarming him.
The man then fled the scene on foot into the nearby drainage system.
The taxi driver sustained a minor cut to the finger as a result of the incident.
