Stolen vehicle incidents – Gold Coast

An 18-year-old man and three girls have been arrested over numerous break and enters and stealing of vehicle offences on the Gold Coast.
It is alleged around 6.35am yesterday access was gained to an unlocked Lexus parked in the driveway of a gated residence at Cabana Boulevard at Benowa. A remote for the garage was allegedly used from the unlocked car to gain entry to the house through the garage.
Once inside it is alleged the offenders have stolen money, credit cards and keys to both the Lexus and another vehicle, a Mercedes Benz that was parked in the garage,
The Lexus was used to ram the gates to exit the property.
A stolen Kia Sportage, which had been taken in an earlier theft at a residence at The Boulevard in Benowa between June 13 and June 14, was left behind at the Cabana Boulevard address.

Dangerous operation of vehicle charges, Laceys Creek

Police have charged a man following two incidents of dangerous driving with a stolen car this morning.
At 8.40am police identified a car driving dangerously along Mount Glorious Road in Laceys Creek.
Police directed the car to pullover, however the 34-year-old failed to stop.
Another officer sighted the car further up the road and again directed the driver to stop.
The driver continued driving dangerously before losing control and crashing into a guard rail.
The 34-year-old man was arrested and transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital for treatment for minor injuries.
He has been charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a vehicle, fail to stop for police, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and unlicenced driving.
He is due to appear in court on Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 22.

Fatal motorcycle crash, Heathwood

A 34-year-old man has died following a motorcycle crash in Heathwood overnight.
Police will allege the Windsor man travelled into parklands at Heathwood to ride his dirt bike and was last seen at 1pm yesterday (June 13).
After failing to return home last night, police were alerted and began investigating.
Sadly, the man was located deceased this morning at 8.30am in bushland.

Suspicious house fire, Kingston

Detectives are investigating a house fire that occurred in Kingston last night.
At 8.30pm, emergency services were called to a Redford Street address following reports an unoccupied house was engulfed in flames.
A crime scene was declared at 9.30pm, after investigations deemed the fire suspicious.
Police will allege that two people were seen running from the address and are appealing for anyone who may have any information to come forward.
Investigations are continuing into the incident.

Revocation of stand down police officers, South Eastern Region

A 46-year-old male senior constable from South Eastern Region who was stood down from official duty with the Queensland Police Service will now return to operational duties.
The officer was stood down in relation to an offence of computer hacking. The court proceedings and disciplinary hearing in relation to this matter have now been finalised.

Fatal traffic crash, Collinsville

A 26-year-old Ayr man has died after a single vehicle traffic crash in Collinsville overnight (June 13).
Preliminary investigations indicate around 9.50pm a Toyota Hilux utility has crashed into a tree on Garrick Street.
As a result of the crash the driver has sustained critical injuries.
He was transported to Townsville Hospital by air but was declared deceased upon arrival.
Forensic Crash Unit investigations continue.

Update: Wounding, Petrie

Police have charged a man with attempted murder after a wounding incident this morning in Petrie.
Around 11am, police were called to a Young Street address after a 20-year-old man was stabbed during an altercation with another man.
The man was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital where he remains in a critical but stable condition.
A 22-year-old Shailer Park man has been charged with one count of attempted murder and will appear in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Monday, June 15.

Wounding, Petrie

Police have declared a crime scene at a Young Street address in Petrie following a wounding incident this morning.
Around 11am, police were called to reports of a man in his 20s sustained a stab wound to his back.
The man was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital from a separate Anzac Avenue address in Kallangur a short time later.
He remains in a critical but stable condition.
A 22-year-old man is currently assisting police with enquires.
There is no further information at this time.

Beyond the carnage: stories from the road

This year alone, we have already seen more than 100 lives lost on Queensland roads.
Every crash involves emergency service officers, from general duties police, paramedics and sometimes firefighters.
After the sirens and lights have stopped, it’s the Forensic Crash Unit that remain on the scene for hours conducting investigations, collecting evidence and in many cases delivering the bad news to the victims loved ones.

However, their message is the same. The majority of fatal or serious traffic crashes are preventable.

Traffic crash, Carina

Police are appealing for witnesses following a traffic crash in Carina yesterday afternoon.
Around 5.40pm, a white Isuzu utility collided with a motorcycle on the corner of Jones and Old Cleveland Roads.
The motorcycle rider was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of the utility was not physically injured.
Forensic Crash Unit officers are appealing for anyone in the vicinity of Jones Road and Old Cleveland Road around 5.40pm yesterday, who witnessed the incident or has dash cam footage, to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.
