Search warrants, Gold Coast

Taskforce Maxima and the Gold Coast Major and Organised Crime Squad officers executed a search warrant at a Surfers Paradise apartment on Friday.
Officers located and seized a loaded hand gun, dangerous drugs and a stolen 2014 Porsche Cayenne.
As a result, police arrested a 29-year-old Shailer Park man with links to the Mongols outlaw motorcycle gang for unlawfully possessing a firearm and possessing dangerous drugs, including Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBH), ecstasy, cocaine and steroids. He was also charged with possessing utensils used to smoke dangerous drugs, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and contravene order for access information.
A 28-year-old Surfers Paradise woman was also charged with possessing dangerous drugs, including Gamma-Butyrolactone (GBH), ecstasy and cocaine. Kidnap and assault charges, Gold Coast

Four people have been charged after Moreton’s Dog Squad located a stolen vehicle at Burpengary early Saturday morning.
The group allegedly stole the vehicle from Southport after entering an apartment on Marine Parade just after 6pm on Friday night.
After entering the apartment, they allegedly forced the 30-year-old male victim into his car before driving off. They also allegedly stole a motorcycle owned by the man.
The man was allegedly driven to a location nearby where the group made threats and assaulted him. He managed to escape the car after it stopped at a service station on Brisbane Road at Labrador.
Emergency services were called to the service station where the 30-year-old man was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital with serious facial injuries.
Around 1am on Saturday, dog squad officers were called to a stolen BMW X5 located on Aquatic Centre Drive.

Queensland Police arrest five men in international operation

Queensland Police have charged five men with a range of child sex offences as part of an international investigation targeting online child exploitation.
As part of Operation Walwa, coordinated by the AFP-led Australian Centre to Counter Child Exploitation (ACCCE), detectives from the State Crime Command’s Child Abuse and Sexual Crime Group, Argos, and local Child Protection and Investigation Units executed five search warrants across Queensland.
The international operation, which included the United States Homeland Security Investigations, targeted a website where users paid to access child abuse material online.
Since the commencement of Operation Walwa in 2018, the Queensland Police Service has arrested and charged the five men with 30 child exploitation offences ranging from use carriage service to transmit indecent images to possess and make child exploitation material.
Those charged are expected to appear in court in the coming months.

Broken oars located, Brisbane River

Water police wish to check on the welfare of a scull rower after two broken oars were recovered from the Brisbane River today.
The oars (pictured) were located at Hamilton and are believed to be from a rowing scull similar to the racing boats used in the Olympics.
One of the damaged oars was found just off the beach at Hamilton North Shore, near the Citycat Terminal while the other was located snapped in half on a rock wall a towards the Gateway Bridge.
Water Police later recovered the remaining piece of this second oar floating downstream.
The oars are “Croker” brand with white blade, black shaft, yellow handles and pink collars.
Each has a strip of green and yellow electrical tape around the shaft with the name “Nick” written in permanent marker.
A search has been conducted of foreshore from Hamilton to Bulimba and back however no further wreckage has been located.

Update: Man charged with acts intended to maim, Beaudesert

Detectives from Jimboomba Criminal Investigation Branch have charged a man with acts intended to maim/disfigure/disable after a man sustained serious arm and leg injuries following an alleged assault involving a machete last night (April 18).
It will be alleged at around 9pm an armed man attended a Stirling Street address where he was involved in a verbal altercation with a 30-year-old man, which escalated in a physical assault with the machete.
The man then fled the address.
Other occupants of the house provided immediate first aid to the injured man while awaiting emergency services.
The victim was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital with serious injuries.
Police located a man a short distance away from the address and he was taken into custody without incident.
A 44-year-old Beaudesert man has been denied police bail and remanded in custody to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court tomorrow on four charges which also include going armed so as

Fatal traffic crash, Brighton

Police are investigating a fatal motorcycle crash in Brighton overnight.
Preliminary investigations indicate around 7.45pm, a motorcycle collided with a power pole on Nathan Street.
The rider, a 49-year-old man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The 36-year-old female pillion was transported to Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital with non life-threatening injuries.
Forensic Crash investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to contact police.

Assault, Beaudesert

Police have arrested a man following an assault in Beaudesert overnight.
Around 9pm, an armed man attended an address in Stirling Street and attacked the occupant before fleeing on foot.
The victim sustained injuries to his hand and foot and was transported the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
A man was located a short distance away and taken into custody without incident.
Investigations are ongoing.

Suspicious car fires, Centenary Division

Detectives are investigating three suspicious car fires which occurred within the Centenary Division between the April 16 and 17.
At approximately 3:30am on April 16, offenders have attended an address at Huon Place, Forest Lake and set a gold 1991 Nissan Pathfinder on fire, before leaving the scene.
At approximately 11:20pm that evening, offenders have driven a stolen grey 2020 Toyota RAV 4 to Sunbird Street, Inala and set it on fire.  This car was stolen from Benier Close, Doolandella on April 15.
At approximately 4:50am on April 17, offenders have driven a stolen grey 2005 Honda Accord to Pelican Street, Inala and set it on fire.  The Honda Accord was stolen from Kathleen Street, Richlands between April 15 and 16.
Police are seeking anyone with any CCTV footage or dashcam vision to contact police in relation to these matters

Appeal for witnesses, traffic crash, East Ipswich

Ipswich Police investigating a collision between a truck and motorcycle at East Ipswich on Thursday, April 16 in which a woman sustained serious head injuries, are appealing for witnesses.
Around 10.45am a white truck and red motorcycle were both travelling in the same direction (towards Ipswich) on King Edward Parade (opposite Riverheart Parklands) when they collided.
The female rider, a 68-year-old North Ipswich woman sustained a fractured skull, as well as internal bleeding and broken bones. She remains in hospital in a stable condition.
The truck driver, a 52-year-old man from New Beith, was not injured.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the crash, or anyone who may have relevant dashcam footage.
Investigations indicate that the occupants of two vehicles in the area at the time of the crash, may have witnessed the incident, with officers wishing to talk to those in a grey sedan or a white utility, who were travelling

Update: Charges following Amber Alert, Narangba

A 34-year-old man has been charged after allegedly assaulting a woman and taking a child from a home in Narangba yesterday.
Around 10am, an argument occurred between a man and a woman known to him at a Narangba residence.
During the altercation, the man allegedly repeatedly assaulted the 33-year-old woman and threatened her with a knife, causing a large cut to her hand.
The man left the residence with a six-week-old baby girl while the woman was transported to hospital for treatment to serious non-life-threatening injuries.
Police issued an Amber Alert for urgent public assistance to locate the man and baby.
As a result, the man later attended Caboolture Hospital around 11:30pm with the uninjured baby girl.
The Mooloolaba man has since been charged with domestic violence offences including common assault, assault occasioning bodily harm, strangulation, threatening violence and wounding.
He was refused police bail and will appear in Redcliffe Magistrates Court on Monday, April 20.
