A man has allegedly returned an alcohol breath analysis more than five times the legal limit after attempting to ram a police vehicle in the Tablelands region overnight.
It will be alleged around 8.30pm last night officers from Mount Garnet went to intercept a four-wheel drive speeding on the Kennedy Highway before it accelerated away.
As police followed the vehicle it is further alleged the driver stopped suddenly before reversing the four-wheel-drive directly at the police car, attempting to collide with it.
Officers managed to avoid crashing into the vehicle before it was allegedly driven away at high speed, at times travelling on the wrong side of the Kennedy Highway from Innot Hot Springs to Mount Garnet.
A short time later police attended a disturbance at an address on Agate Street where the male driver of the vehicle was allegedly observed threatening another man with an axe.
He then fled the scene in the four-wheel-drive,
