Police have released vision of a vehicle ploughing into a Slacks Creek service station as a stark reminder of the dangers of drink driving.
Around 1.45am on December 19, 2019, the vehicle travelled through a red traffic light, crashing into another vehicle before careering into the nearby service station on Paradise Road.
CCTV from the service station captures the moment the vehicle becomes airborne and smashes into a petrol bowser.
Luckily, the drivers of both vehicles sustained only minor injuries.
The 32-year-old driver of the primary vehicle recorded a breath alcohol reading of 0.225%, nearly five times the legal limit.
The Kingston man was charged with one count each of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle whilst adversely affected by an intoxicated substance and driving whilst unlicensed.
He recently pleaded guilty in Beenleigh Magistrates Court where he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment (suspended for two years) and disqualified for driving for 12 months.
