A man has been charged after an alleged neighbourhood dispute over dogs resulted in another man being seriously assaulted with an axe.
It will be alleged yesterday (May 23) around 9.15am a 75-year-old man was working on a rural property at Weranga North Road when he shot dead what he thought to be a wild dog on his land.
The male owner of the dog then approached the man allegedly armed with an axe and struck him with the handle in the back before striking the man’s leg with the blade.
The man took his deceased dog before allegedly returning and continuing to assault the injured elderly man as he lay on the ground.
It is further alleged the man then went to the victim’s vehicle, removed his firearm and found the victim’s dog which he assaulted and killed with the weapon before fleeing the scene.
The 75-year-old man was transported to Tara Base Hospital
