Police have taken a man into custody following investigations into a number of incidents in Byfield on August 5 and 6.
It will be alleged at approximately 5.45pm on August 5 emergency services were responding to a fire near a camp ground at Waterpark Creek.
They were confronted by a man who allegedly attempted to light further fires and made threats.
A short time later police attempted to intercept a Green Toyota Starlet hatchback in the Byfield area however the vehicle allegedly evaded police.
Police will further allege at approximately 2.00am on August 6 the same man entered a residence on Richters Road in Byfield and threatened another man with what appeared to be a machete.
The man was allegedly assaulted, and his Toyota Hilux Utility stolen.
At 12:40pm today officers took a man into custody on Castle Rock Road in Byfield.
A 51-year-old Byfield man has been charged with three counts of contravening a domestic violence
