Let the Kids and their Grandparents Bond in these Upcoming Events in Morningside

For the Easter holidays, Brisbane City Council’s Gold’n’Kids program have a few activities which will provide an opportunity for seniors and children to bond and have some fun together. Here is a list of their events in Morningside.

Egg Carton Greenhouse

Monday, 9 April 2018 (9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m.)

Perfect for the Easter holiday, these egg carton greenhouses are a simple way to get children into gardening and growing their own sprouts. Get your kids excited as they take their own greenhouse home.

As part of the Gold’n’Kids program and the Embracing 2018 Active and Healthy Challenge Activity, get a chance to win great prizes by participating in the activity. Visit the  Active and Healthy Challenge web page and fill out the form to enter the draw.

Cost of joining is $5 which is inclusive of the materials to be used. Don’t forget to wear old but comfortable clothes that you don’t mind getting dirty and enclosed footwear. Participants are asked to meet at the Beelarong Community Farm shed.

Terrific Terrariums

Get creative with new and recycled materials to make a mini terrarium of your own. All materials will be provided, but you can bring your own glass container and your collection of small objects like shells and pebbles to personalize your project.

This activity is also part of the Gold’n’Kids and Embracing 2018 Active and Healthy Challenge Activity which gives you more chance to win great prizes while having fun. Just don’t forget to register at the Active and Healthy Challenge web page.

This activity also costs $5 inclusive of the materials to be used in the activity.

Fish Wise

Saturday, 14 April 2018 (8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.)

Perfect for older people who are fishing enthusiasts, Fish Wise is a great way to introduce fishing to the younger generation.

Learn the basics of fishing or brush up on your skills and meet new friends. Beginners can learn knot tying, bait presentation, rod casting, and other tips to make your next fishing trip more successful.

This activity is also part of the Gold’n’Kids and Embracing 2018 Active and Healthy Challenge Activity which gives you more chance to win great prizes while participating.

This event is free but bookings are essential. Call 2 Bent Rods on 0403 713 820 to reserve a place.

Remember to wear clothes and footwear that you don’t mind getting wet. Make sure to bring a towel, spare clothes, and snacks.  Participants are asked to meet at the picnic shelter near the jetty.
