An investigation by the State Crime Command’s Prostitution Enforcement Taskforce targeting unlawful prostitution has led to the closure of an illegal Gold Coast escort agency, with 25 people, including the alleged business owner, a 47-year-old man, to appear in court this week.
The protracted investigation Operation Romeo Manoeuvre began in March 2019 to disrupt and dismantle networks profiting from illegal prostitution activities.
Police executed a search warrant on a residence at Coomera after which a 47-year-old man was charged with offences including carrying on the business of providing unlawful prostitution.
During the search officers allegedly located several mobile phones with contact numbers used in advertising for prostitution services, two vehicles used for transportation, a computer with software for booking appointments along with a range of business documents.
Police will allege the business was operating under the façade of a legitimate businesses, with documentation uncovered including employment contracts and worksheets.
