Arson charge, Middle Ridge
A man has been charged with arson following a house fire in Middle Ridge this afternoon.
Around 2.30pm, police and emergency services attended the Banksdale Drive home to find it well alight.
After it was extinguished, initial investigations revealed the fire to be suspicious and a crime scene was declared.
The home was extensively damaged by the fire.
A 19-year-old male occupant of the home was subsequently arrested and charged with arson.
He will appear in the Toowoomba Magistrates Court tomorrow.
No one was injured as a result of the fire.
Armed robbery, Acacia Ridge
Two boys have been charged following the armed robbery of an Acacia Ridge bakery this afternoon.
It will be alleged that around 1.15pm, a boy entered the Mortimer Road business and threatened a male staff member with a baseball bat.
He allegedly demanded money before jumping over the counter and grabbing money out of a basket and fled the scene on foot.
He was later joined by a younger boy who police allege may have been acting as a look out for the other.
Witnesses assisted police determine the direction they had fled, and a police dog and their handler was able to track them to a home nearby.
Both boys – a 14-year-old and a 17-year-old – were conveyed to Acacia Ridge police station and charged with armed robbery.
School bus crash, Riverview
Three children were treated for minor injuries after their school bus was involved in a crash with a truck this afternoon.
Around 3.20pm, the bus and truck collided nose-to-tail on Brisbane Service Road behind a secondary college.
In addition to the children injured, the male bus and truck drivers were also treated for minor injuries.
The truck driver was then transported to Ipswich Hospital as a precaution.
There were 42 children on board at the time of the crash and all were examined by paramedics.
Arrangements were made for parents or guardians to collect the children from the school.
