Robbery, Darling Heights

Police are investigating the theft of a vehicle in Darling Heights today.
At 11am, a 29-year-old woman parked her white Honda HRV near a Birch Street residence.
She was nearby when a group of juvenile males entered her vehicle.
As the woman ran towards her car, one of the males exited the vehicle and left the scene.
The woman opened the driver’s door and was threatened by one of the males who was armed with a tomahawk.
The group then proceeded to drive away in the stolen vehicle.
The vehicle has since been located on Massey Street, Kingsthorpe.
Police are appealing for anyone who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, or anyone who saw four to five juvenile males in the vicinity of Birch and Platz Streets between 10.30am and 11.15am, to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.

Fatal crash, near Goondiwindi

Two people have died following a crash north of Goondiwindi this afternoon.
Around 12.20pm, police were advised by members of the public that a car appeared to have overturned in a creek off the Gore Highway, around 33 kilometres north of Goondiwindi.
Both occupants of the vehicle were declared deceased at the scene.
There is no further information available.

Update: Grievous bodily harm charges, Andergrove

Mackay detectives have charged a 26-year-old man following an incident in Andergrove yesterday, April 20.
It will be alleged at around 10.15am, police were called to an address on Bedford Road following reports of an unconscious man lying on a driveway.
On arrival, police located a 36-year-old man with significant head injuries. A crime scene was established and investigations commenced.
The man was transported to the Mackay Base Hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A 26-year-old Andergrove man has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm, one count of unlawful possession of weapons, one count of unauthorised and prohibited explosives.
He is due to appear in the Mackay Magistrates Court on Monday, April 23.

Armed robbery, Southport

Police are investigating the armed robbery of a Southport service station early this morning.
Around 4.45am, two men dressed in black with their faces covered entered the business on Ferry Road.
One of the men was armed with a crow bar and threatened a staff member.
The men obtained money and cigarettes before fleeing on foot.
No one was physically injured.
Anyone who may have witnessed the incident is urged to contact police.

Update 2: Shooting incident, Petrie

Detectives have charged a man following investigations into the death of a 24-year-old man in Petrie early yesterday morning.
Just after midnight police and emergency services were called to a unit block on Young Street following reports a man had been shot.
A 24-year-old man was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition and subsequently passed away.
A 21-year-old Nundah man was taken into custody overnight and has been charged with one count each of murder and burglary.
He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.
