Drug charges, Torbanlea

Detectives investigating drug supply at Torbanlea in the Hervey Bay area have successfully impacted a sophisticated cannabis operation.
On October 1, detectives executed a search warrant at a property on Joynson Road.
During the search, police located a large cannabis hydroponic production system.
A further search of the property located an alleged purpose build shed containing approximately 380 cannabis plants and outhouses used for raising seedlings and preparing cannabis for sale.
A 34-year-old woman from Torbanlea has been arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs and publishing or possessing instructions for producing dangerous drugs.
A 35-year-old man from Torbanlea has been arrested and charged with possession of dangerous drugs and publishing or possessing instructions for producing dangerous drugs.
They are both due to appear in the Hervey Bay Magistrates Court on October 17.

Update: Fatal traffic crash, Bald Hills

Two people have died in a two-vehicle traffic crash at Bald Hills overnight.
Preliminary inquiries indicate a Mitsubishi 4WD which was stolen from Chamberlain Street, Toowoomba on October 14 was sighted by police on Lutwyche Road, Windsor at 11.50pm. Police requested the vehicle pull over, however it evaded police and fled at speed.
This vehicle continued north on Gympie Road in the south bound lane where it collided with another vehicle travelling south.
The 36-year-old male driver of the second vehicle and the 32-year-old male front seat passenger in the first vehicle were declared deceased at the scene. The 28-year-old male driver and the 32-year-old rear passenger of the first vehicle were both transported to hospital.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the crash and are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dash cam footage to contact them.

Fatal traffic crash, Bald Hills

Two people have died in a traffic crash at Bald Hills overnight.
Preliminary inquiries indicate around midnight a stolen car was headed north in the southbound lanes of the Gympie Arterial Road when it has collided with a car headed south.
A person in each car died at the scene.
Southbound lanes remain closed whilst Forensic Crash Unit officers investigate the crash. All southbound traffic is been diverted onto the Gateway Motorway.

Update drug operation closure, Townsville

Detectives from the Major and Organised Crime Squad Northern executed a search warrant upon a residence in Townsville today that resulted in the location of $398,300 cash hidden in a roof cavity.
The warrant was executed following the closure of a significant drug operation across Townsville, Operation Romeo Telos.
A total of 128 grams of cannabis and a drug utensil were also located during the course of the search.
A 38-year-old male is expected to be charged with a number of drug related offences relating to this seizure.
Detectives have also issued an NTA for possession of this cash as suspected drug proceeds to a 52-year-old alleged principal drug trafficker targeted in this operation.
The 52-year-old was released on Magistrates Court bail after this operation was closed in late September 2019.
The operation involved officers from several commands, coordinated by Major and Organised Crime Squad – Northern.

Update: Armed robbery, Mountain Creek

Police have released CCTV following the armed robbery of a Sunshine Coast bakery last week.
On October 9 at around 7.50am a man entered the business on Karawatha Drive armed with a knife.
He demanded money from a 18-year-old female staff member who complied, placing a sum of cash in a dark coloured bag.
The man then fled on foot, last seen running towards Molakai Drive.
He is described as Caucasian, aged in his 50s to 60s, and was wearing light brown work boots, dark coloured work pants, blue checked long sleeve jumped with a grey hood.
Anyone who may recognise the man depicted in the vision is urged to contact police.

‘Operation Record’, Ormeau Hills

Police have charged a man after allegedly uncovering a significant quantity of dangerous and prescription drugs at an Ormeau Hills home on Sunday, October 13.
Around 5.20pm, detectives from the Gold Coast Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Mullins Street address where they allegedly located approximately 225 MDMA tablets, 160 grams of MDMA powder, 91 grams of cocaine, 38 grams of methylamphetamine, 25 grams of ketamine, 12 vials of testosterone, 6 litres of GHB, 100ml of cannabis oil and three tasers.
Officers also allegedly uncovered 1.2 kilograms of white powder and 288 grams of a brown putty substance suspected of being dangerous drugs.
A 36-year-old Ormeau Hills man was arrested at the scene and has now been charged with six counts of possessing dangerous drugs and one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs, producing dangerous drugs, possessing weapons, possessing restricted drugs, possessing property obtained from trafficking, possessing relevant

Fatal traffic crash, Mutchilba (Mareeba)

A man has died after the motorcycle he was riding crashed at Mutchilba, Mareeba yesterday afternoon.
Preliminary investigations indicate at around 12.10pm three motorcycles were travelling together when the motorcycle involved swerved before leaving the road and crashing into a culvert on Middle Creek Road.
The rider, a 54-year-old man from Kuranda was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Endangering motorists, Kenmore

Police were called to a disturbance at Moggill Road, Kenmore this afternoon.
At about 4:50pm, police responded to reports of a man throwing rocks onto passing cars.
Witnesses stated they saw the man throw a large rock onto the traffic travelling outbound on Moggill Road.
Police are appealing for motorists who were driving in the area and may have received damage to their vehicle to contact police.

Shots fired, Wacol

Detectives are seeking assistance to identify two men who attempted to gain entry to a residence at Wacol overnight.
Just before 1am, two men approached the residence on Wilga Street and made a demand of the residents.
The two men have then entered the courtyard at the rear of the property and attempted to gain entry through the rear door.
The men were denied entry and fired a single shot into the door causing it to shatter.
The two residents, a 33-year-old man and a 32-year-old woman, were not physically injured.
Investigators are appealing for anyone with further information or anyone in the area with CCTV footage of the pair to contact police.

Assault of taxi driver, Noosa Heads

Police have released CCTV as part of ongoing investigations into the alleged assault of a taxi driver in Noosa last month.
Just before midnight on September 7 a 35-year-old man driving a local maxi taxi collected a fare of around eleven people including adults and children from Hastings Street.
It will be alleged a man sitting in the front seat started making demands for the driver to attend the drive-through of a fast food outlet.
The driver refused as per company policy, and the man allegedly became verbally abusive.
The driver pulled over to the side of the road and asked him to get out. The man continued to abuse the driver before punching him in the head a number of times.
It is further alleged another male passenger then began punching the driver from behind.
The driver got out of the taxi and the group fled along Weyba Road.
The victim did not sustain serious injury
