Burglary and unlawful use charges, Palmwoods

Police have charged a 30-year-old man with a number of offences including burglary, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and unlawful use of a motor vehicle following an alleged incident between Bridgeman Downs and the Sunshine Coast.
On August 20, about 12.30am a Nissan X-Trail was stolen from a Christopher Place residence in Morayfield.
Around 8.30am today, it will be alleged a man entered a home in Canopus Street, Bridgeman Downs and confronted the owner of a BMW sedan, before stealing it. The Nissan X-Trail stolen from Morayfield was located outside this address by police.
At 9.05am a BMW sedan was allegedly observed on Anzac Avenue at Kallangur on the wrong side of the road at high speed.
Police received a number of calls from motorists regarding a BMW sedan driving erratically along the Bruce Highway.
The sedan was located abandoned in Wells Court Palmwoods a short time later.

Staff member suspended, Northern Region

A male staff member from Northern Region has been suspended from the Queensland Police Service.
The officer is the subject of allegations relating to domestic violence and sexual misconduct and is scheduled to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court on September 2.

Police officer stood down, Northern Region

A 33-year-old female constable from Northern Region has been stood down from the Queensland Police Service.
The officer is the subject of an investigation into allegations of drink driving whilst off duty and has been served a notice to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court on September 11, charged with drink driving.

Update: Public appeal following fatal hit and run, Callemondah

Officers investigating a fatal traffic crash which occurred in Callemondah on Sunday, August 25 are appealing for the driver of a silver four-wheel drive to contact police.
At about 7.00pm a passing motorist has located a man laying in the middle of Red Rover Road.
Upon arrival, police observed a man with multiple serious injuries to his head, torso and limbs.
A 58-year-old man from South Gladstone was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The man’s vehicle was located off the road.
Police believe the man may have been walking along the road and been struck by a passing vehicle.
Officers believe the silver four-wheel drive may have had roof racks with equipment on the vehicle and is described as a Landcruiser or Prado.
Investigators are also appealing for anyone with any information or who was travelling along Red Rover Road between 6:50pm and 7:10pm on Sunday to contact police.
Investigations are continuing.

Grievous bodily harm charge, Caloundra West

Police have charged a 26-year-old Caloundra West man with grievous bodily harm following an investigation into alleged injuries sustained by a seven-week-old baby last week.
On August 10, the baby boy was transported to Sunshine Coast University Hospital with significant injuries.
He has since been transported to the Queensland Children’s Hospital where he remains in a critical condition.
Ongoing inquiries conducted by detectives from the Child Protection Investigation Unit led to the arrest of a 26-year-old man yesterday (August 16).
He was denied police bail and is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today, August 17.

Charges following siege, Southport

A man has been charged following a series of alleged armed robberies overnight which culminated in a standoff with police at a Southport service station.
It will be alleged at around 7.45pm a man armed with a firearm threatened a male taxi driver and forced him to drive to a service station located on Ferry Road.
The man allegedly struck a glass door of the business with the firearm, causing it to shatter before threatening a console operator who handed him a sum of cash from the till.
He then demanded the keys to a Holden Astra and fled the scene in the vehicle.
It is further alleged the man drove about 500 metres south to a different service station on Ferry Road where he stole another car at gunpoint, a Kia Sportage.

PSPA revoked, Southport

Police have revoked an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to an armed man in Southport.
The declaration was revoked at 12.05am after the man exited a service station on Nerang Street and was taken into custody without further incident.
The PSPA was invoked at 8.36pm after the man entered the business and produced a firearm.
Police immediately established a cordon and the man was contained within the premises. There was no one else inside the building.
The man peacefully surrendered to officers at 11.55pm.
The cordon encompassing Eugaree Street, Nerang Street, Falconer Street and Tweed Street has been lifted and the roads are now open.

PSPA declared, Southport

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) in relation to an armed man in Southport.
A declaration was made at 8.36pm after the man entered a service station on Nerang Street and produced a firearm.
Police were notified and immediately attended the scene, establishing a cordon of the area.
There is no one else currently inside the business with the man.
The PSPA encompasses the area surrounding Eugaree Street to Nerang Street, Falconer Street and Tweed Street.
Residents within the cordon are advised to stay indoors and members of the public are advised to avoid the area.
Specialist police and negotiators are currently on scene.

Water thefts, Darling Downs District

With severe drought conditions and limited water supply affecting parts of the Darling Downs, police are disappointed and concerned to have received three reports of water thefts across the local area.
On March 11, more than 7,000 litres of water was stolen from the Girraween Environmental Lodge in Wyberba.
Between June 7 to 21, an unknown quantity of water was taken from a dam at a property on Poziers Road in Cottonvale.
Additionally, between July 28 and 29, an unknown quantity of water was taken from High Street in Stanthorpe after a cap was removed from a water main.
Police also suspect there have been three other incidents of water theft in the area, but so far, no formal complaints have been lodged.
Stanthorpe Officer in Charge Acting Senior Sergeant Greg Finucane is encouraging residents to be conscious of their water usage and assist the Southern Downs Regional Council’s aim of reducing water consumption.

Armed robbery, Logan Central

Police have charged a teenager after a man allegedly had his car stolen at knife-point at Logan Central on Tuesday August 13.
Around 5.15pm, a 45-year-old Logan Central man parked his car on Blackwood Road and got out of the vehicle, when he was approached by a man and a boy.
It will be alleged that the boy produced a knife and threatened the 45-year-old, demanding money, before the pair forced him into his car and instructed him to drive.
The 45-year-old complied and drove the pair a short distance up Blackwood Road, before pulling over and giving them keys and a phone.
The man got into the driver’s seat and the boy into the front-passenger seat and allegedly tried to drive away in the vehicle, however crashed into a pole. The pair then exited the vehicle and fled the scene on foot.
The 45-year-old man did not sustain any injuries
