Police have charged a man after an incident in which a police vehicle was damaged by a firearm in Goodna overnight.
Just before 8pm officers responded to reports of a weapon being fired on Parker Street when, it will be alleged, shots were fired at a police vehicle, damaging a door.
Officers withdrew and established a cordon around the area as additional officers attended the scene.
At 9:10pm a man armed with a rifle surrendered to specialist officers and was taken into custody without incident.
No officers or members of the public were physically injured as a result of the incident.
A 59-year-old Newton is expected to be charged with two counts of acts intended to maim or disfigure and one count each of dangerous conduct with a weapon, unlawful possession of a Category B weapon (rifle) and wilful damage of police property.
He is expected to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 13.

Suspicious death, Surfers Paradise
Detectives have commenced an investigation into the death of a man located in Surfers Paradise yesterday afternoon.
At 5:15pm officers attended an address on Markwell Avenue after emergency services located a man deceased in a home.
The man is yet to be formally identified.
A crime scene has been declared and was guarded overnight with scientific officers expected to return to the scene today.

Latest litter of crime fighters revealed
Minister for Police and Minister for Corrective Services, the Honourable Mark Ryan MP, yesterday introduced the public to the Queensland Police Service’s newest recruits, the R Litter of German Shepherd puppies.
The R Litter consists of nine puppies, two females – Rhode and Rhaja – and seven males – Raptor, RJ, Ruckus, Riddler, Raider, Rumble and Reggie.
The puppies, who were born on March 16, are destined to become general purpose dogs with the QPS, once they complete their operational training.
For now though, the pups will spend the next 12 to 18 months with their foster carers, learning vital socialisation skills.
Minister Ryan said the Dog Squad was one of the most active and essential frontline services of the Queensland Police Service.
“Each year, our general purpose dogs are responsible for the tracking and apprehension of offenders state-wide,” Minister Ryan said.

Fatal e-scooter crash, South Brisbane
A man hospitalised after falling from an e-scooter at South Brisbane on Wednesday has died.
Just after midnight on May 8, the man was riding south across the Victoria Bridge before falling from the scooter on the Southbank forecourt after a set of stairs.
The 50-year-old Woollongabba man was transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital in a critical condition but passed away yesterday.
The man was wearing a helmet.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
Police encourage all users to ride in a safe and respectful way, sticking to paths and giving way to pedestrians.
If unsafe use is observed, police may issue fines.
Update: Break and enter, Mungindi
Two men have been charged following a cross-border operation, between the Queensland Police Service and New South Wales Police Force into rural crime offences.
A search warrant was executed at an Inglewood property on May 9 where Queensland police recovered a 2013 Toyota Landcruiser utility which was allegedly stolen from a property at St George in the early hours of May 7.
Police also recovered other items including a small amount of Methylamphetamine and ammunition.
A 28-year-old man was charged with one count of possession of tainted property.
A 31-year-old man was conveyed to Warwick Watch House where he was charged with six counts of enter premises and commit an indictable offence and one count each of trespass, stealing, possessing dangerous drugs and obstruct police. He is due to appear at the Warwick Magistrates Court today.

Attempted armed robbery, Toowoomba
Police are searching for two armed men who chased an employee and attempted to rob a licensed premises in Toowoomba this morning.
At around 4.20am two men smashed their way into the James Street business through a glass door located on Geddes Street.
The men, armed with an axe and a rifle, entered the main bar area before spotting a 24-year-old male employee at a side entrance who had just finished work.
The man armed with the rifle chased the employee out of the premises and into a nearby carpark before returning to the building and attempting to regain entry.
The second man then ran outside empty-handed and fled the venue with his accomplice in a vehicle along Geddes Street.
Police attended the business a short time later and located the victim in the carpark who had sustained a leg injury after falling during the foot chase.

Armed robbery, Upper Mount Gravatt
Police are investigating the armed robbery of a man at Upper Mount Gravatt yesterday afternoon.
Around 7.30pm a 20-year-old man was walking along Logan Road between the McDonald’s restaurant and Klumpp Road when he was approached and assaulted by five men.
The men demanded cash before punching the victim, hitting him with the baseball bat several times, pushing him to the ground and stealing the money from his wallet.
They then fled the scene on foot.
The victim was transported to hospital to the Queen Elizabeth II Hospital for treatment of minor injuries.
There is a limited description of the men police are looking for, but they were wearing clothing wrapped around their faces.
Detectives are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information relevant to the investigation to come forward.

Update: Impersonating a police officer, Gold Coast
Gold Coast police have charged a 17-year-old boy following investigations into a number of offences, including impersonating a police officer within the Gold Coast area in the past month.
It will be alleged a Subaru was stolen from an address in Reedy Creek on April 5 and was involved in a number of dangerous driving offences throughout the Mudgeeraba and Gold Coast areas between April 25 and May 5.
Police will further allege the driver of the vehicle was seen on April 16 on the Pacific Motorway in Carrara wearing a police cap and attempting to pull-over another vehicle.
Officers were called to Majtlis Place in Worongary around 8.30am yesterday morning following reports of a person sleeping in the stolen Subaru.
It will be alleged when officers attended the Subaru reversed into a police car, before driving forward into another police car and then colliding with a tree.

National joint operation targets Rebels OMCG
A national joint operation targeting the Rebels Outlaw Motorcycle Gang and specifically aimed at disrupting their criminal activities has resulted in the arrest of six people on 14 charges in Queensland.
Led by Taskforce Morpheus, police from across Australia and New Zealand yesterday joined forces to undertake action targeting the Rebels OMCG. The disruption activities included the execution of coordinated search warrants in addition to intelligence led action, used by police to lay the foundation for future strategic based operations.
To date, six people have been charged with 14 offences, 59 intelligence submissions have been made and three tasers and 240g of cannabis has been seized. Three patched members of the club have also commenced the process of formally disassociating from the club.

Serious traffic crash, Brisbane Valley Highway
The Brisbane Valley Highway at Wivenhoe Pocket is closed between Wivenhoe Dam and Fernvale due to a serious single truck crash that happened today.
Around 3.40am a truck has overturned after it left the highway and hit a number trees.
Two men are trapped in the truck and are believed to have serious injuries.
The road between Wivenhoe Pocket and Fernvale will be closed most of the day, and motorists are advised to take a detour through Lowood.
The Forensic Crash Unit attended the location and are conducting investigations into the crash.
Investigators are seeking anyone who witnessed the incident or who may have dash cam to contact the police.
