Armed robbery, Ormeau

Detectives are investigating after the armed robbery of a tavern in Ormeau earlier this morning.
Around 3.30am three men approached the business on the corner of Halfway Drive and Pascoe Road.
One of the men discharged a firearm into the glass door of the building before threatening a staff member.
A second man threatened a security guard with a machete and demanded money from the premises before all three fled the scene with a sum of cash, in a white van.
No one was physically injured during the robbery.
The van was later located on fire on Plunkett Road in Tamborine.
The men are described as Caucasian in appearance and were last seen wearing facial coverings.

Robbery with violence charges, Zillmere

Police have charged a man after he allegedly robbed a pizza delivery driver in Zillmere last night.
A 25-year-old man was delivering a pizza to an address on Church Street at around 11.20pm when he was approached by a man.
Police will allege the man then grabbed the driver by the throat and stole four pizzas before fleeing the scene.
The 25-year-old was treated for minor injuries.
Officers attended an address on the same street a short time later and took a man into custody.
A 19-year-old man has been charged with one count each of robbery with violence, possession of a utensil and obstruct police.
He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court today.

Fatal traffic crash, Mount Isa

Police are investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred in Mount Isa yesterday afternoon.
Initial information suggests that a car and a ute collided head on when they were travelling on Camooweal Street at around 3.40pm.
The driver of the car, a 26-year-old woman, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
There were two passengers in the car, an 8-year-old boy was transported to the Townsville Hospital in a critical condition and an infant girl was transported to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
The driver and passenger of the ute, a 44-year-old man and a 57-year-old man were both transported to Mount Isa Hospital in a stable condition.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Man charged over drug offences, Innisfail

A man has been charged over the alleged discovery of drugs and hydroponic equipment at an Innisfail residence.
At 1pm on Friday Police officers executed a search warrant at the residence where 19 cannabis plants and 5.2 kilograms of dried cannabis were located.
A 66-year-old man from Innisfail has been charged with one count each of producing a dangerous drug, possessing dangerous drugs and possession of property suspected of having been used in connection with a drug offence.
He will appear in the Innisfail Magistrate Court on May 20.

Update: Suspicious death, Woodridge

Police have charged a 40-year-old man with murder after the death of another man at Woodridge today.
Around 5am emergency services were alerted to a man lying in the street at the corner of Defiance Road and North Street.
The 50-year-man had sustained multiple life-threatening injuries.
He was treated at the scene and transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he passed way.
The man was located by police nearby and taken into custody.
A 40-year-old Beenleigh man has been charged with one count of murder and is due to appear at the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Monday, April 29.

Appeal for witnesses, Townsville

Police are seeking public assistance to help identify a male who inappropriately touched a 14-year-old girl in Townsville on Thursday.
At 4.25pm, the girl was walking in a southerly direction on Charters Towers Road, Hermit Park, when a man on a dark coloured mountain bike approached her.
The man is described as bald, with a dark complexion.
He was last seen wearing dark shorts, with no shirt, and black sunglasses.
The man was last seen riding the bike at 4.45pm on Queens Road before turning right into Halloran Street.
Police are requesting anyone who may have dashcam footage or who can identify the man to contact police.

Suspicious death, Woodridge

A 40-year-old man is assisting police with their investigations after the suspicious death of another man at Woodridge today.
Around 5am emergency services were alerted to a man lying in the street at the corner of Defiance Road and North Street.
The man had sustained multiple life-threatening injuries.
He was treated at the scene and transport to the Princess Alexandra Hospital where he passed way.
The 40-year-old man was located by police nearby and taken into custody soon after.
Anyone who might have seen or heard a disturbance in the vicinity of Defiance Road and North Road around 5am this morning is urged to contact police.
Detectives are also keen for any dashcam or CCTV in the area that could assist their investigation.

Serious traffic crash, Loganholme

Police are seeking public assistance after a serious traffic crash that occurred this yesterday morning Loganholme.
Initial investigations suggest that a ute was driving north on the Pacific Motorway at Loganholme at 810am when it was struck from behind by a B-Double truck which caused it to crash into a barrier.
A passenger in the ute, a 94-year-old woman, was transported to hospital for treatment of a number of internal injuries.
The other occupants of the ute didn’t sustain any injures.
Police are appealing for anyone that was travelling in the area at the time and may have dashcam to contact them.
The truck is described as a red Kenworth B Double and was towing two trailers.
Investigations are continuing.

Appeal for witnesses – traffic crash, Kenmore

Police investigating a two-vehicle crash at Kenmore on Wednesday, April 24 are appealing for witnesses and for dashcam footage.
Investigations indicate a red Ducati Scrambler motorcycle was stationary at a set of traffic lights on Moggill Road, at the intersection with Margaret Court at around 8.30am, when it was struck from behind by a white 2003 Toyota Echo hatchback.
The rider of the motorcycle, a 78-year-old Scarborough man sustained a number of serious injuries including broken bones and head trauma and was transported to hospital.
The 29-year-old female driver of the car was not physically injured.
Investigators would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the crash or anyone who may have dashcam vision (contact details below).

Arrest of alleged serial thief, Townsville

A man allegedly responsible for breaking into dozens of Townsville homes has been arrested by police after attempting to flee through a local hardware store yesterday morning.
It will be alleged the man broke into a West End residence around 1.30am on April 24 and stole property including a mobile phone as well as a Ford Falcon that was parked in the driveway.
The 55-year-old female victim of the theft tracked her phone to a Castletown service station where she and an associate located the stolen vehicle and approached the male driver.
The victim attempted to take her keys from the car and a struggle ensued between her and the man, during which she sustained minor injuries before he fled the scene on foot.
It is further alleged that the same man later attended a Currajong address where he stole a vehicle from a residence and drove it to Mount Louisa before abandoning it.
