Serious traffic crash, Waterford West

Police are investigating a serious, single vehicle traffic crash which occurred at Waterford West early this morning.
At 6.40am, emergency services were called to Kingston Road following reports a motorcycle had left the road and crashed.
The 47-year-old male rider from Kingston, sustained life-threatening-injuries and was treated at the scene before being transported to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
One lane southbound on Kingston Road was closed until 10am while authorities responded to the incident.
The Forensic Crash Unit will investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash.

Thieves break into Walkerston’s Anglican Church

Police are investigating after thieves broke into Saint Mary Magdalene’s Anglican Church in Walkerston and stole a significant sum of money.
A parishioner attended the Church on McColl Street around 7am on Good Friday only to find that the Church – which is also an opportunity (op) shop – had been broken into.
It appears that someone forced their way into the vestry, rummaged through cupboards and drawers in the office before stealing a significant amount of cash.
It is thought that the offence occurred sometime between 6pm after the Maundy Thursday Evening Prayer service and 7am on Good Friday morning.
Police door knocked surrounding homes but have not yet been able to identify those responsible.
Anyone who may have heard or seen anything suspicious near the Church is encouraged to contact police.
As well, anyone who may have been driving down McColl Road and has relevant dashcam video should also contact police.

Update No. 2 of 5

Phase 2 of the Queensland Easter Road Safety Campaign commences at 0001 hrs on Thursday, 18 April 2019 and continues until 2359 hrs on Monday, 22 April 2019.

During the Easter Period, Queensland Police will enforce high risk road user behaviour including the fatal five: speeding, fatigue, impaired driving (drink and drug), failure to wear a seat belt and distraction/inattention in a concerted effort to minimise road trauma.

Dangerous driving charges, Gold Coast

Police have charged a man after he allegedly rammed a vehicle in Logan and drove a stolen truck to New South Wales and back to Palm Beach before been arrested.
It will be alleged at 10.45pm police observed a truck with stolen registration plates in Wyndham Circuit at Holmview. The truck drove off, hitting a parked Holden Barina and pushing it approximately two meters into a tree.
A short time later police observed the truck travelling south on the Pacific Motorway at Yatala and Polair began tracking the vehicle at Coomera.
A tyre deflation device was successfully deployed at the roadworks on the Pacific Motorway at Mudgeeraba. Police began to follow the truck with lights and sirens.
The truck continued to drive south with both front tyres flat. The truck drove into New South Wales where New South Wales police followed the vehicle from the Tugun Bypass Tunnel and it briefly

Armed robbery charges, Morayfield

Police have charged a man after he allegedly robbed a coffee shop on Thursday night in Morayfield.
It will be alleged at 9.50pm, a man attended the Morayfield Road store and threatened the two male staff members with a knife demanding money.
The staff complied, and the man left with a sum of cash.
Around 6pm today, April 19, detectives attended a residence in Feather Court at Morayfield and arrested a man.
A 21-year-old Morayfield man has been charged with one count each of armed robbery, possession of dangerous drugs (cannabis), possession of drug utensil (waterpipe) and possession of explosive (ammunition).
He will appear via telephone at the Kingaroy Magistrates Court tomorrow, April 20 (Easter call over court)

Update 3: Homicide, MacGregor

Police have charged two further men in relation to the death of MacGregor man Dr Luping Zheng on April 15.
A 19-year-old Kingston man was arrested around 11am at a home in Natalie Street, Slacks Creek.
A 20-year-old Woodridge man was taken into custody around 11.40am at a home in Victoria Street in Woodridge.
The 19-year-old has been charged with one count each of murder, enter dwelling with intent, attempted armed robbery, possess shortened firearms and unlawful use of a motor vehicle.
He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Assault charge, Atherton

Police have charged a woman after she allegedly stabbed another woman in Atherton overnight.
It will be alleged at about 2.15am an altercation occurred in the front yard of a Rita Street house between two women, who are known to each other.
During the incident a 38-year-old Upper Barron woman received a stab wound to the upper left back with a knife. She was treated at the Atherton Hospital and subsequently released.
A 46-year-old Atherton woman has been charged with one count of assault occasioning bodily harm and is expected to appear in the Mareeba Magistrates Court tomorrow.

Armed robbery charges, Margate

Detectives have charged a man and a woman following a violent robbery that occurred earlier this month in Margate.
On April 13 at around 8.40pm, a man entered a convenience store on Oxley Avenue and allegedly threatened a man with a tyre iron.
It will be further alleged that the pair then became involved in an altercation before the man stole a sum of cash and fled the scene.
The attendant, a 28-year-old man, was transported to hospital for treatment to facial and head injures as well as a broken arm.
A 30-year-old Bracken Ridge man has been charged with one count each of grievous bodily harm, robbery with violence and enter premises with intent and he is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court tomorrow.
A 28-year-old Tamborine woman has been charged with one count of armed robbery and is due to appear in the Redcliffe Magistrates Court on April 26.

Update – Serious traffic crash, Tugun

Forensic Crash Unit officers are investigating a single vehicle traffic crash at Tugun overnight.
Preliminary inquiries indicate at about 2.10am a Holden Commodore with New South Wales (NSW) registration was travelling north on the Pacific Highway at Tugun when it has left the road and rolled several times.
The passenger, a woman in her twenties, was transported to Gold Coast University Hospital in a critical condition.
The 28-year-old woman from Wallsend, NSW has since passed away from her injuries.
A 40-year-old man from Richmond, NSW was arrested in relation to other matters. He was charged with failing to appear and will appear in the Southport Magistrate Court on April 20.
Investigators are appealing for any witnesses or anyone with dash cam vision to contact police.
