Argos appeal to parents on Safer Internet Day 2019

This morning the Minister for Police and Corrective Services Mark Ryan MP joined the Queensland Police Service to deliver an important message to all parents, caregivers and educators as part of Safer Internet Day.
“The investigators within Queensland Police Service’s Argos and child protection officers across the state do a job not many of us could. They investigate internet facilitated crimes against children,” Minister Ryan said.
“Over the years, the team has seen the worst crimes and witnessed these atrocities captured across hundreds and thousands of images and videos. They have seen the pain, the trauma and the suffering. They have seen it all.
“But that’s their job and I would be joined by many people in suggesting the world is a better place because of people like them. It is because of their sheer hard work and dedication that so many children across the world have been removed from harm and saved

Emergency Alert flood message for Bluewater, Bluewater Park, Toolakea and Saunders Beach as at 12.30am Tues Feb 5

An Emergency Alert flood message has been issued for Bluewater, Bluewater Park, Toolakea and Saunders Beach.
The message advises properties in these areas are at risk of flash flooding due to intense rainfall in the Bluewater Creek catchment causing water levels to rise.
Residents are advised to move to higher ground if concerned.

Closure of drug operation, Biloela

Gladstone detectives have closed Operation Quebec Borba with the charging of six people for the alleged trafficking of drugs.
The operation started in September 2018 to target the supply of methamphetamine in the Biloela and Gladstone areas.
On January 31 and February 1 police executed 11 search warrants at residential addresses in Biloela, Theodore and Moura and seized a quantity of methamphetamine, cannabis, drug utensils and stolen property.
A 34-year-old Biloela man has been charged with two counts of trafficking dangerous drugs and 50 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.
A 32-year-old Biloela woman has been charged with one count of trafficking dangerous drugs and 33 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.
A 26-year-old Biloela man has been charged with one count of trafficking and 11 counts of supplying dangerous drugs.
A 44-year-old Biloela woman and a 52-year-old Biloela man have both has been charged with one count each of trafficking dangerous drugs and supplying dangerous drugs.

Update: Shooting, Meridan Plains

Police have charged a man following the alleged shooting of a man at Meridan Plains on Thursday, January 31.
It will be alleged around 11.30am an altercation occurred between two men who are known to each other on Meridan Way. During the altercation one man received a single gun shot wound to the hip.
The 45-year-old Nambour man was transported to the Sunshine Coast University Hospital.
A 47-year-old Currimundi man has been charged with one count each of acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm and possession of tainted property.
He has been remanded in custody and will reappear at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on March 15.

Update: Wounding, Palm Beach

A man has been charged after a girl sustained a serious stab wound at Palm Beach last night.
Just after 4pm, police were called to Nalla Court following reports of a physical altercation between four people.
During the altercation it will be alleged a 19-year-old man stabbed a 17-year-old girl in the chest.
She was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a stable condition.
A 19-year-old Palm Beach man was arrested and later charged with acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court today (February 4).
All four people are known to each other.

Update: Shooting incident, Margate

A man and a woman have been charged with attempted murder after a man sustained a gunshot wound at a Margate residence yesterday morning.
It will be alleged a man and woman attended an address on McCulloch avenue around 11.15am and became involved in an altercation with a 25-year-old male resident known to them.
It is further alleged the pair demanded property before the man produced a firearm and shot the resident in the chest.
The man and woman then allegedly fled the scene in a vehicle.
The victim was transported to the Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital in a critical condition.
Police arrested a man and a woman a short time later after intercepting a vehicle.
A 29-year-old Deception Bay man has been charged with attempted murder, armed robbery in company with wounding, enter dwelling with intent whilst armed, unlawful possession of weapons, possess shortened firearms, authority required to possess explosives, possession of dangerous drugs

Emergency Alert for Townsville residents from the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group as at 9.25pm Sun 3 Feb

An Emergency Alert message has been issued to Townsville residents from the Townsville Local Disaster Management Group.

The message advises that dam gates are now fully open and residents will experience a sudden rise of fast moving water from the Ross River.

The following areas will experience imminent flash flooding as a result of significant, sudden rises in the Ross River: Rosslea, Hermit Park, Railway Estate, South Townsville, Oonoonba, Idalia, West End, Rowes Bay, Garbutt, Townsville City, Cluden, Hyde Park, Aitkenvale, Currajong, Pimlico, Mysterton, Mundingburra, Douglas, Annandale, Kirwan and Thuringowa.

Residents are advised to move away from the Ross River immediately and make their way to higher ground now. If at home, move to the highest point of your dwelling.

Call Triple Zero (000) for all life-threatening emergencies.

Wounding, Palm beach

A man is assisting police with their investigations into a serious wounding incident in Palm Beach tonight.
Just after 4pm, police were called to Nalla Court following reports of a disturbance between four people.
During the altercation, a 17-year-old girl received a stab wound to the chest.
She was transported to the Gold Coast University Hospital for treatment.
A crime scene has been declared and a 19-year-old man is currently assisting police with their inquiries.
All four people are known to each other.
