Indecent treatment charges, South Burnett

Kingaroy detectives investigating alleged sexual assaults against teenage boys in the South Burnett region have charged a man and continue to appeal for anyone with information to come forward.
Detectives from the Kingaroy Child Protection and Investigation Unit arrested a 71-year-old South Burnett man in November 2018 charging him with 20 offences, including indecent treatment of a child under 16.
Police will allege the offences were committed against several teenage boys between March and November of last year.
Police allege the man worked in a community organisation which had regular contact with juveniles and children in several towns in the South Burnett region between 2000 and 2017.
The man is due to re-appear in the Kingaroy Magistrates Court on January 21.
Police are appealing for members of the public who may have information that can assist with investigations to contact police (details below).

Fraud charges, Chermside

Detectives from the North Brisbane Criminal Investigation Branch investigating allegations of fraud, forgery and falsifying records at a Chermside medical facility have charged a man.
It will be alleged between March and November last year the 50-year-old Carindale man accessed the records of four patients to obtain their name, address and health care information to write prescriptions for himself.
The man is then alleged to have filled the prescriptions on 17 separate occasions.
He has been charged with 17 counts of fraud, 17 counts of uttering, 16 counts of obtaining or detailing with identification, 16 counts of forgery and six counts of falsification of records.
The man is expected to appear in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 20.

Armed robbery, Southport

Police are investigating after a man’s car was stolen during a burglary at Southport this morning.
Around 6.00am, two men in a green Holden Commodore attended an address at Eugaree Street.
The 59-year-old male occupant was woken by a knock at the front door and upon opening it, was confronted by the two men – one of which was known to him – who asked to borrow the man’s phone.
The resident agreed and unlocked the front door, the two men then forced entry and punched the resident in the face, before producing a firearm.
The men then stole the resident’s wallet and car-keys, before one left the scene in the green Holden Commodore and the other left in the man’s vehicle.
The 59-year-old resident suffered bruising to his face and did not require medical attention.
The first man is described as Caucasian, around 185cm tall, with a slim build and short blonde hair.

Armed robbery, Beaudesert

Police are investigating after a man armed with a machete robbed a service station at Beaudesert last night.
Around 8pm, a man entered the business on Beaudesert Nerang Road and approached the counter.
He then produced a large machete and demanded money and cigarettes from a 37-year-old female employee.
The woman complied before fleeing into another room and sounding the alarm as the man put the goods into a black backpack.
The man then smashed the glass counter with the machete before fleeing the store.
He is described as Caucasian in appearance, around 165cm with a thin build and blue eyes. He was wearing a long sleeved dark blue jacket with a hood, long cream pants, black Nike shoes and black socks on his hands.
Police are urging anyone who may have seen the man or have further information regarding the incident to come forward.

Fatal traffic incident, Annerley

A 17-year-old boy has died following a traffic incident in Annerley yesterday evening.
Preliminary information indicates the boy was moving between cars travelling along Ipswich Road when he was struck by a passing vehicle around 9.50pm.
He sustained critical injuries as a result of the collision and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the vehicle, a 52-year-old man, was not seriously injured.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.

Drink driving and evade police, Beaudesert

A man who allegedly threatened a family at their home before driving through Beaudesert at high speed to evade attending officers has been charged after turning up at the local police station.
It will be alleged at around 12pm yesterday a man driving a white hatchback stopped at a residence on Brooklands Drive and approached a woman and five children who were outside at the time.
The man allegedly claimed to be armed with a handgun and made threats before the family fled inside the home and contacted police.
Officers arrived a short time later and spotted the white hatchback which they attempted to intercept, however the vehicle allegedly failed to stop, driving away at speed.
As police followed the car it allegedly continued to weave in and out of traffic before accelerating and driving off.

Update 4 – Bus assaults, North Brisbane

The man charged following investigations into two alleged assaults on Brisbane buses in December last year has been arrested in relation to two additional assaults.
It will be alleged a 16-year-old was assaulted in an unprovoked incident at Ashgrove and a 65-year-old woman attacked in a separate incident at Red Hill.
A 39-year-old Aspley man has been charged with one count each of assault occasioning bodily harm and serious assault.
He is due to appear in the Pine Rivers Magistrates Court tomorrow.
Investigators continue to appeal for anyone who may have been a victim of random or unprovoked assaults in Brisbane by a man and who has not already spoken to police, to please contact them.

Fatal traffic crash, Goondiwindi

A man has died following a single vehicle traffic crash near Goondiwindi.
Preliminary information indicates the vehicle was located off the Barwon Highway around 14kms from Goondiwindi shortly before 4.30pm today.
Initial investigations indicate the vehicle left the road, travelling through a fence and a paddock before coming to rest in a creek bed.
The 18-year-old driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
A Forensic Crash Unit investigation into the cause is ongoing.

Enter with intent, Raceview

Police have charged two teenagers after a cash register was allegedly stolen from a business in Raceview last night.
It is alleged around 8.50pm two males approached a restaurant on Raceview Street before one of the pair produced a tomahawk and went inside, demanding money.
The male then allegedly went around the counter and removed the till from the cash register.
The pair then both fled the scene on foot.
Police attended and a short time later located a 17-year-old boy and an 18-year-old man nearby as well as the alleged stolen till.
They were arrested and have both been charged with one count each of going armed so as to cause fear, enter premises with intent to commit indictable offence and stealing.
The 18-year-old Newtown man is due to appear in court this morning (January 16).

Update 3: Bus assaults, North Brisbane

Police have charged a man following investigations into two alleged assaults on Brisbane buses in December last year.
Today officers released CCTV footage, appealing to members of the public who may recognise the man, to contact police.
At around 2.30pm today, officers conducting routine patrols took a man into custody on Lutwyche Road in Windsor.
The first alleged assault occurred around 7.45pm on December 9, when a 40-year-old man was sitting on a bus as it stopped on Maundrell Terrace in Chermside.
Police will allege the same man assaulted and caused facial injuries to an 18-year-old woman on a bus on South Pine Road at Everton Park at around 5.45pm on December 12.
A 39-year-old Aspley man has been charged with two counts of assault occasioning bodily harm.
He is due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 4.
Investigators continue to appeal for anyone who may have been a victim of random or unprovoked assaults
