Armed robbery, Boondall

Police are investigating after two men were robbed outside of an entertainment venue in Boondall this afternoon.
The men aged 66 and 65 had just exited their vehicles in the carpark of the venue on Melaleuca Drive around 1.50pm when they noticed a Black Mazda BT-50 dual-cab travelling in the wrong direction on the ring road.
The men approached the vehicle as it stopped and the male passenger got out and produced what appeared to be a homemade firearm, demanding money and mobile phones.
The victims complied and the armed men fled the scene in the dual-cab with a sum of money and property.
Police have released CCTV images of a vehicle believed to be linked to the incident with false QLD registration 699VYH.
Members of the public are advised to call Triple if they see this vehicle and not approach the occupants.
The male passenger of the Mazda is described as Caucasian, approximately 177cm tall

Strangulation and wounding charges, Cardwell

Cardwell police have charged a man with unlawful strangulation and wounding after officers were called to a disturbance at Kennedy yesterday, January 13.
Police attended a Kennedy home around 3.30pm  following reports of a physical altercation between a man and a woman.
Upon arrival police located a woman aged in her 30s with injuries. Officers arrested a 41-year-old man at the house.
It will be alleged that on January 11 the woman was assaulted by a man at the address during which time she was choked.
It will be further alleged that another assault occurred on January 12 during which time the woman sustained two stab wounds from a knife, one in her thigh and the other her arm.
Police will allege that yesterday the woman was assaulted by being slapped and grabbed by the hair several times at the house prior to the arrival of police.
The woman was transported to hospital for treatment to

Suspicious fire, Ashmore

Police are investigating a suspicious house fire at Ashmore this morning.
Around 8.00am, police were called to Belah Street with multiple reports of a building on fire.
The 46-year-old sole male occupant of the residence was not home at the time.
Preliminary information indicates that a person has forced entry to the man’s utility before reversing it against the right side of the building and igniting the rear of the vehicle.
The fire then quickly spread to the nearby residence, causing significant damage to its interior and destroying the vehicle.
Investigations continue.

Investigations continue into assault of a young girl at Coolum

Sunshine Coast detectives continue to investigate an incident in which a young girl was assaulted in a toilet block at a Coolum park in early January.
The four-year-old was with family and friends at Tickle Park, David Low Way, on Friday, January 4 when she wandered away from the group and into a nearby unisex toilet block.
A man entered the toilet and indecently assaulted the child.
The girl returned to where her family and friends were and later told her parents about the incident.
Due to her young age- it is believed that the incident may have occurred sometime between 4.30 and 5.30pm and that the man may have had white or light coloured hair and was wearing shorts and a t-shirt.
For orientation purposes the toilet block was located at the Coolum Surf Club end of Tickle Park.

Drug seizure and charges, Keperra

A man has been charged in relation to the alleged production and possession of dangerous drugs following a search of a Keperra home today.
Around 7.30am detectives from the Ferny Grove Criminal Investigation Branch executed a search warrant at a Clemesha Street address.
A search of the property was conducted, with police alleging they located large quantity of cannabis and cannabis seeds. A number of mature cannabis plants was also located in the back yard.
A 63-year-old Keperra man was charged with one count each of producing dangerous drugs, possessing dangerous drugs and possessing utensils.
He is due to appear in the Brisbane Magistrate court on February 13.

Fatal traffic crash, Pittsworth

A man has died after a single vehicle traffic crash in Broxburn overnight.
Emergency services were alerted at around 3:15am this morning, after a motorist located debris on the Gore Highway, near Broxburn Road.
Subsequent investigations indicate a utility was travelling west around 3am on the Gore Highway when the vehicle has left the road and rolled a number of times.
The male driver, a 24-year-old Pittsworth man and sole occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the cause of the crash.

Attempted armed robbery, Redbank Plains

Police have charged a boy after a man was injured during an alleged attempted armed robbery in Redbank Plains overnight.
Police were called to a restaurant on Alawoona Street just before 7pm after a boy allegedly entered the business armed with a knife.
It will be further alleged the boy approached a male staff member and made demands for cash.
When the man refused a struggle occurred and a group of men intervened, holding the boy down until police arrived.
The male staff member sustained a laceration to his arm during the incident and was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital for treatment.
A 16-year-old Bellbird Park boy has been charged with attempted armed robbery.

Armed robbery, Parkinson

Police are investigating after a pizza delivery driver was robbed in Parkinson this afternoon.
Initial information suggests that a 17-year-old boy was delivering a pizza to an address on Larapinta Circuit at 4.50pm.
When he exited the car to deliver the pizza, he was approached by a man carrying what is believed to be a baseball bat who demanded money.
The 17-year-old handed the man a sum of cash before he fled down an alley towards Beaudesert Road.
The boy was not injured as a result of the robbery.
He is described as being Caucasian in appearance, around 185cm tall and has a slim build, dark hair and was wearing a grey hooded jumper.

Update: Serious assault charge, Robina

Police have charged a man following the alleged assault of a police officer and traffic crash in Robina last night.
It will be alleged shortly after 8pm, a man drove a ute at high speeds southbound on the Pacific Motorway at Robina.
As the ute was passing through the roadworks site, it collided with two other vehicles before striking a barrier and coming to a stop.
The man then fled the ute and attempted to push a person off a motorcycle that had stopped at the site.
A 47-year-old female police officer from the Forensic Crash Unit that was travelling on the motorway stopped at the scene and confronted the man.
The man and the police officer became involved in a struggle and the man then allegedly assaulted the police officer.
Four members of the public assisted the officer by holding the man down until more police crews arrived and took him into custody.

Stealing charges, Logan

A man has been charged after a large number of water meters that were stolen in the Logan area since 2017.
An investigation commenced in 2017 after several water meters were stolen from unit blocks, homes and businesses in the area.
Logan Criminal Investigation Branch detectives then initiated an investigation that used a variety of overt and covert strategies with the assistance of the Logan City Council,
It will be alleged that the man stole the water meters and then on sold them for scrap metal.
Police estimate the man has made around $10,000 from the sale of the meters over the past two years.
The man was arrested yesterday, and it will be further alleged that he had a number of water meters on his possession.
A 44-year-old man has been charged with 174 counts of stealing and he is due to appear in the Beenleigh Magistrates Court on January 14.
